In case you haven't seen it yet, here's the new logo for the state-run TV station replacing RCTV in Venezuela (I copied it off of YouTube; they show the sign on on one post). I'm sure Old Roy will log it first! Hmmm... and it's called TVes - I guess they want us to pick it up by Es!

Can't say I've ever DXed RCTV :-(
... but I did peek at its internet feed a few times.

If anyone is interested in watching the switchover, several people have posted it on YouTube:

They aired this "53 years of" thing beforehand. My spanish isn't too great yet, but it looked like a good tribute:

I DID DX RCTV, by Es, in June, 2003 (the only "great" DX since I've been DXing from Temperance, and my personal longest reception of an NTSC signal from anywhere I've been DXing).

Trouble is, internet resources are really lacking on the actual transmitter sites and channels in South America, only concentrating in networks and their content.

I never have known WHERE in Venezuela the station I got was from (it was channel 3, zero offset, and their exact frequency drifted a little, though not nearly to be the american standard of within 1 kHz of 61,250,000 Hz)

Interesting to see the You Tube video "R.C.T.V.'s Final Minute" - it seems to show zero-beat CCI coming into the picture in the last several seconds, with the TVes logo above the VBI - suggesting that TVes has taken over only the channel than RCTV had, not the RCTV transmitter, rather using their own transmitter (presumably ch2, if the You Tube video was taken in Caracas).
