If WBXC-CD has 3ABN, is W07DD still on air and 3ABN, as well?

Nice to find 700+ mile DTV tropo when you least expect it, like this morning. The Milford, IL remote DTV DX site setup logged eight new logs, including WCBS, New York, a new personal tropo distance record at 713 miles. Unfortunately it did not decode via the manual tuner I was working at the time, but rather the scanning tuner received it. Overall, a nice morning of tropo especially at the end of November in the Midwest.

WGRZ 33/2, Buffalo, NY 488 miles. New log #414.
WRLM 47/47, Canton, OH 329 miles. New log #415.
WNEO 45/45, Alliance, OH 351 miles. New log #416.
WKBN 41/27, Youngstown, OH 365 miles. New log #417.
WPNT 42/22, Pittsburgh, PA 399 miles. New log #418.
WCBS 33/2, New York, NY 713 miles. New log #419.
WOSU 38/34, Columbus, OH 248 miles. New log #420.
WPTO 28/14, Oxford, OH 193 miles. New log #421.

That location still amazes me.The log count now matches mine for the last 15 yrs. Steve said your RC amp went down but,I noticed your map was looking busy later on.I gave up on those a long time ago. Was totally unaware of this opening and it's still going on with the Quad cities now boomin in.The maps didn't show much of anything in the forecast. My tower got a cable jammed so I had to lower and fix that today. Can't believe this opening this late in season and a really crappy day to boot.

The problem with my amp is that the power injector gets quite hot after a while. I unplug it, let it cool for a while, and plug it back in. Not sure what the problem is. I plan to swap it out anyway because of overload issues when aimed at Indy.
I chose the site because it is at my brother in law's, lol. I knew it was low RF, but didn't realize Tropo was so good there.

Setting up a small fan can work wonders with overly hot equipment. Do you know if its normal for the power injector to get hot? Do you start experiencing problems if you don't cool it off?

It does work ok after the power injector cools to room temp. I have had it up since August without a problem until yesterday morning. A fan is a good idea until I take it out of service.

Wow Steve, nice catches there at the IL DX site. I can't believe my locals are making it out that far. Whenever I notice the IL DX site catching anything from around here, I know it's a good idea for me to stop at my mobile DX spot in Medina. It's a good indicator for me to use. My spot seems to do comparable to the IL DX site with distances, and I'm just using an AntennaCraft HBU33 on the ground and getting over 300 miles easily. I wish I could have a 24/7 setup out there in Medina.

Steve, the IL DX site continues to amaze. Congrats on WCBS-33, one of my semi-locals. Interesting that you received no other NYC, or anything between WPSU and WCBS. When are you going to log my local blow torches, WTBY-27 or WRNN-48? You now know these distances are possible.
