Andrew, you're pulling in some real fine DX. Medina especially seems to be a great location. I think some day you're just going to move to Medina!

    RE: the overheating power supply...

I'd be looking for corrosion / water in the connectors / feedline.

Ed, good thought but I had to remove my Research Communications preamp from my tower over a month ago because it simply stopped working one day. After testing with Mike's unit here at my house earlier in the summer, I noticed a slight positive margin with it over the Winegard HDP-269 that Mike and I had been using. When I first hooked up the RC unit on my tower, and PRIOR to cranking the tower up, I checked it out and NOTHING. Talk about being ticked off! I removed it and then tested it indoors and it worked. DUH. I kept trying to figure out why I wasn't getting any signal through the line. I finally switched out the indoor UVSJ I was using to a CM combiner, and it worked. So I cranked the tower up and it worked for about two months and then stopped working. I then removed it and remounted the HDP-269 and it has continued to work without fail. As for the RC unit, I once again tested it indoors and it worked. Greg B. used an RC unit some 10 years ago and had several issues with it, too. When those units work, they are good, but too many of them seem to be too picky, flakey and unreliable. I doubt I'll ever buy another. I plan to test it more with my mobile setup, as long as it works......................

I just wanted to add how blown away I am regarding the WCBS reception. That's one of the great logs. (Unfortunately nothing noted here checking FM that morning) Awesome job, guys.

It's great to see how well you operate that remote site, Steve.

While looking for tropo DTVs, Es popped up from SD into the IL DX site around 5:40 p.m. EST. Received KOTA 2/3, Rapid City, SD 832 miles and KDLO 3/3, Florence, SD 587 miles. Both relogs.

Nice going on the e-skip Steve. I have my low-VHF antenna down for the season. I'll put it back up in April. I still need to log KDLO here. I think I'm going to need a good FM filter here, because the nearby FM blowtorches seem to be making it harder for the DTV e-skip to come through the interference.
