Between Monday evening and this morning (Wed.), there was some tropo reception up to 496 miles at the Milford, IL remote DX site. As the log count climbs it is getting tougher to log new ones, but two new ones were added during this time. And thanks to Mike Glass for recently setting up a newer, more powerful computer to run the DXing equipment at this site. The faster pc now allows screenshots of real station video when the station is decoding properly and the somewhat limited internet connection at this site allows the information to get processed and sent along. Also, a real human has to be at the controls to make this work. It does take a few steps and a little patience to make it work out, but I'm enjoying the challenge. I've attached a few examples of the shots, including a weather screen from Fox17, WZTV, Nashville, TN (305 miles). Some of the reception included:

    WBXX 20/20, Crossville, TN @ 359 miles
WPBI-LD 16/16, Lafayette, IN @ 43 miles. New station and new log #518.
WELF 16/23 "TBN" Dalton, GA @ 419 miles
    WIAT 30/42, Birmingham, AL @ 496 miles
WAAY 32/31, Huntsville, AL 412 miles
    WYMT 12/57, Hazard, KY @ 336 miles
    WVVA 46/6, Bluefield, WV @ 417 miles
WLFB 40/40, Bluefield, WV @ 415 miles. New log #519.
    WVAH 19/11, Charleston, WV @ 341 miles
    WPBO 43/42, Portsmouth, OH @ 274 miles

Great set of logs there Steve! The Milford location continues to amaze me and I think I only get 1/10th of what Milford receives on an average day.

I'm hoping you guys will be able to eventually add TSReader software to the Milford dx setup. There are a lot of the stations that Milford receives that need to be updated on the Rabbitears website. Just as you mention its fun to be doing the screen captures on live dx, I've found the same thing to be true when I run TSReader on dx I'm receiving. You also have to be at the controls to get the TSReader capture and when you do, its like a little extra icing on the cake. My mission now is to see how many TSReader files I can get and save in a folder from all of my DTV dx. To me, getting the TSReader file is like getting the complete picture for that station.

Thanks, Jim. Since July 2015, the reception at that site has amazed me too.....along with Mike G. It turned out to be much better than anticipated. And we're looking into TSReader.

Now, if only I could figure out why I tend to have so many issues posting pics on this site. Two days ago I posted screenshot pics with the previous post above. The pics were there and fine for a few hours and then POOF they were all gone. If you click the links in the post it says "Invalid ...." The same pics were posted at the WTFDA Facebook site without issue.

Some interesting tropo conditions this week led to three new DTV logs on Dec. 20 and three more new logs on Dec. 23. The tropo on Dec. 23 hung around for the most part from about 5 a.m. EST until about 4 p.m. At times it was quite weak and it seemed to constantly move around, but before fading out it extended around 400 miles to Pittsburgh and a very quick decode of WPSU 15/3, Clearfield, PA @ 479 miles over WEWS 15/5, Cleveland, OH @ 311 miles. The two stations have virtually the same azimuth reading from Milford, IL. Here are the six new DTV logs:

    WRBJ 34/34, Magee, MS @ 597 miles
    WPXX 51/50, Memphis, TN @ 394 miles
    WHBQ 13/13, Memphis, TN @ 396 miles
WKPI "KET" 24/22, Pikeville, KY @ 358 miles
    WLEX 39/18, Lexington, KY @ 249 miles
    W16DO-D 16/16, Cleveland, OH @ 312 miles

Tropo conditions from the southwest brought in DTVs from St. Louis, Springfield, MO @ 372 miles and even a very brief decode of KFSM 18/5, Fort Smith, AR @ 486 miles this morning. Unfortunately, none of the stations beyond St. Louis, just over 200 miles, lasted very long into the Milford, IL remote DX site. I was able to receive a new DTV America station for the log book, #552: WODK-LD 45/45, Springfield, IL. But because it is a DTV America station, which constantly moves and moves and moves transmitter site locations with the FCC until pleased with the location, the WODK-LD transmitter is NOT in the Springfield, IL area/market but rather approximately 85 miles away in St. Louis, MO. The WODK-LD transmitter is 216 miles from the Milford, IL DX site. Here in Indianapolis, another DTV America station, WUDZ-LD 28/28, Terre Haute, IN has its transmitter located just over 5 miles from my house on the north side of Indy. Apparently this is a new trend. Map of transmitter site. http://www.rabbitears.info/contour.php?appid=2004089

The station is streaming 7 channels, 45.1 - 45.7, with each one labeled "WODK-LD" so I checked out a couple to see what was on. 45.1 is COZI and 45.2 is H&I.

Great catches! It seems when Milford is always getting great dx, the tropo is always way east of my location. Still waiting to log WBIH, WHTN, and WUPA. Logged WFNA on Nov. 10, 2016 during the mid morning hours, at 555 miles, along with a handful of other stations in that area.

Congrats to Bill H. in Ontario for receiving KHME 2, Rapid City, SD @ 1182 miles via Es this evening. About 40 minutes later, KYUS 3, Miles City, MT @ 996 miles was very briefly received at the Milford, IL remote DX site at 6:58 p.m. EDT. A couple signal hits strong enough to trigger the PSIP, and then it was gone. KYUS with its BIG power of 1.030 kW. Good to see some Es to start the season.
