    Default E-skip in Ohio

KOTA was received here last night 1/20/16. I was thinking the winter e-skip was over, but apparently not. There were also a couple sub-decodes on channels 3 and 5.

Great to see the new VHF-lo antenna is working well for Es.

Here are some photos and video from today's e-skip to Nova Scotia and Maine. Signals received were WLBZ Bangor ME @ 702 miles and CJCB 4 Sydney NS @ 1125 miles. There was also a channel 3, likely CJCB6 from Port Hawkesbury, NS. The videos of CJCB show just how clear the picture quality was.

You got some really nice stuff out there. I've been monitoring since 8:45 this morning. I saw about 10 seconds of an analog channel 4, just frame bars, then 2 hours later about 20 seconds of weak skip on 91.3. Looking at the skip map I can't believe more hasn't broken through today. It all depends on where you are. Maybe later.

Harry, it was great for a couple hours this morning on low-VHF. I'd never seen CJCB that strong before. I also noted a sub-decode on the Zenith box on channel 3. There is only one channel 3 up that way... CHAU1 in Quebec, but it never decoded ... maybe next time. Throughout the day, it has been very fluttery and struggling to get into FM. I did manage to ID 96.9 KXBJ from El Campo Texas, but it was really weak. I'm just glad to finally see a DTV via e-skip.

Congrats on getting WLBZ. When skip is out that way I always check for digital stations. It seems to me there is a digital station in the Canadian Maritimes somewhere but I'm not sure of that. I have seen WLBZ here in analog years back so I look for this also but no luck yet.

CIMT-DT-1, Edmundston, New Brunswick. Channel 4 with 2.22kw.
It's a translator of the TVA station in Riviere-du-Loup, Quebec.

CHAU has three up in that area on DT 3, 4, and 5. It seems that all have been logged by DXers in this group. I saw the DT 3 yesterday, which didn't decode, probably because the analogs in that area interfere.

Yes, there are more in Quebec but that's not technically the Maritimes (sorry!)

    Let's see...
    CHAU-DT ch. 5 Carleton (48-08-08N/66-07-04W) 9.85kw/483m
    CHAU-DT-1 ch. 3 Ste.-Marguerite-Marie (48-18-41N/67-05-03W) 1.567kw/206m
    CFTF-DT-4 ch. 4 Forestville (48-48-32N/69-00-26W) 1.9kw/144m
    CHAU-DT-7 ch. 4 Riviere-au-Renard (48-59-51N/64-25-53W) 990w/228m

    I think that's it..

    FWIW elsewhere in Canada...

    CHFD-DT ch. 4 Thunder Bay, Ont. (48-31-27N/89-06-53W) 1.2kw/366m
CKPR-DT ch. 2 (same antenna & power as above)

    CITL-DT ch. 4 Lloydminster, Alta./Sask. (53-23-47N/110-00-30W) 9.1kw/221m
CKSA-DT ch. 2 (same antenna as above but only 8.1kw)

Decode of KHME 2/23 here in Akron Ohio this evening (1,120 miles). TSID still shows up as "KOTA".
