    Default Super Bowl party in your living room

    Super Bowl LI is suppose to go down as the year that is better to see the game AT HOME than being in Houston at the stadium!

    http://4k.com/news/super-bowl-li-4k-...ews-and-18343/

    Overview on the story....

    A game that will be totally broadcast in UHD via 38 cameras but delivered in 720p. Beyond these 38 cameras, Fox will also be including 32 non-UHD recording devices and 24 of the total of 70 cameras will be installed along the end-zone pylons for superbly detailed viewing and measurement of how goals are scored during the game. Part of the 32 non-UHD devices will be helmet cams, where the home viewers will get to see replays from the player perspective.

    Cheap technology? IF you can wrap your brain around this....1 terabyte of data per a 30 second video clip - and it takes the video tech 2 minutes just to prep that 30 second clip for replay (so it won't be instantly available).

    Then there will be a new Player tracking technology which works off of RFID sensors inside the shoulder pads of the players themselves. With these RFID tags, Fox will be able to display live streaming metrics for location, acceleration, speed and distance for each player on 3D-style virtual billboards which will appear throughout the game.

    Whether you care about either team or not, it might be fun to watch for a little bit, just to get a look at the technology. And then there are the commercials.....

    I'm still waiting for the time a punt/pass/kick strikes the jib cam....

    In contrast, my local educational (but non PBS) WBEC-TV ( www.becon.tv ) airs taped hi-school football games, often with only 2 cameras or so. Often one has no clue what yard line is the line of scrimmage! ......Despite that, BeconTV airs an excellent locally produced quiz show for hi-school kids,"School Duel," reminiscent of the old GE College Bowl. School Duel has its own YouTube page, and I am sure that each and every show (in recent seasons) has been uploaded.

    I want ATL to win, but I know the sentiment of folk wanting to see Goodell hand the trophy to Brady.

    Here's another FUN FACT about the Super Bowl and and US Presidential years. Of course this isn't scientific - just an interesting correlation. Whichever party wins the Presidential election, correlates to which conference wins the BIG GAME. Democrats = NFC; Republicans = AFC. There have been a few misses, but most of the time it works out. Murphy messing around with the Super Bowl, like the Russians messing around with the US voting system???

    1980: Republicans in office (Reagan) = AFC wins Super Bowl (Steelers);
    1984: Republicans (Reagan re-elect) = AFC (Raiders);
    1988: Republicans (GWH Bush) / NFC (Redskins) - wasn't a match;
    1992: Democrats (Clinton) = NFC (Redskins);
    1996: Democrats (Clinton re-elect) = NFC (Cowboys);
    2000: Republicans (GW Bush) / NFC (Rams); wasn't a match;
    2004: Republicans (GW Bush re-elect) = AFC (Patriots);
    2008: Democrats (Obama) = NFC (Giants);
    2012: Democrats (Obama re-elect) = NFC (Giants);
    2016: Republicans (Trump) = AFC (Patriots)

    And the saga continues...
