    Default Myrtle Beach DX-Pedition

I just got back from a vacation to Myrtle Beach, SC. I stayed at an oceanfront hotel on the 11th floor. I brought a 4-bay antenna with me, and I set it up on the balcony. Here is a photo of the setup...

While there, the tropo conditions were excellent. There were a couple days of coastal tropo. Here is what the map looked like...

Just awesome. I may go to MB in July, but more for Es. Fred in SC seems to be a magnet for Haiti & Dominican Republic. Although both are Es distance here too, some stations may be "too close."

That is just totally awesome. Nothing like that ever happens here in the sticks of Missouri.

Andrew.... I don't think there are any stations left for your next trip to Myrtle Beach Was the 11th floor of the hotel the top floor? It was great following your loggings on the WTFDA Bulletin Board and the Facebook Group. Great collection of screen shots.

Hey Andrew, I got your eQSL for WBBH: "Yup. Looks like us."

Seriously man, what great timing for your vacation! I don't suppose you have any video to go with the pictures? It'd blow the doors off my 2014 compilation.

On this end I kept the STBs running all night with nothing to show for it, but with some patience I did manage to hear Charleston (oh so briefly) on 101.7 and 104.5. My first "real" DX since I moved into the condo. (I was seriously starting to worry about this place.)

Andrew, By this time next year, 3 of the stations you received will be off the air: Local WGSI-CD-11 (opening up possibiities from Savannah and Daytona Beach. Also going off are WTGL-46 Leesburg, FL and WXEL-27 West Palm Beach. Unfortunately, all of the other stations going off the air in that area are ones you didn't log, and many are on the same frequency as locals.

Hi Ryan, I just uploaded a video to YouTube which shows the RF channel flip-thru on the Zenith tuner... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKxVZxzg5-Q&t=15s

Fantastic video! I think we need a WTFDA timeshare.

That's quite a collection ya got there, Andrew... Good stuff.

cd... You might see some coastal tropo from Myrtle Beach to New England in July.

Ryan... I think, maybe, a WTFDA condo, somewhere in the southern Gulf of Mexico, for trans-Gulf tropo experimentation. :-)

I'd like to see the video but cd could walk to Myrtle Beach before I'd ever get it downloaded.
