    Default UNID 93.3 Meteor Scatter

Testing out the new unattended Meteor Scatter shack. It consists of an FM-6 mounted at six feet. This feeds a Sony XDR-F1HD and a Dennon TU-1500RD. The audio from the Sony is captured overnight using Total Recorder software, while the Dennon has been modified to output MPX to a Ray Dees RDS Decoder. This in turn feeds RDS Spy on the computer. Reviewing both the RDS log and the recording in the morning only takes about 15 minutes.

Today, I heard this brief ping around 9:20 AM. Two stations can be heard. The second one is giving a web site which sounds like call letters. Any thoughts?

    All help appreciated!

    Hi Les,

    "[W]KYQ.com" at 00:06. That's 93.3 WKYQ in Paducah, KY.

    Hi Les...

Yup, that's one of my locals... WKYQ puts in a, "scorched earth" signal at my house. I'd imagine you can also hear it with a little tropo enhancement. Good catch.

KYQ.com indeed ... nice example of a very lucrative but brief Ms burst.

Default Another Short Range MS Logging

Thank you gentlemen. As an engineer by training (if no longer by profession) I take pleasure in building a system to remotely monitor for meteor scatter unattended that functions as it should. This is due largely to the suggestions and inspiration of many others--thank you all for your suggestions and encouragement.

Today brought another capture of 261 miles via MS or some other propagation mechanism (airplane scatter or perhaps lightning?) WDNS in Bowling Green, KY at 261 Miles.

Did you then design this crazy short pipeline to KY ON 93.3?
