    Default USB TV Tuners

I am considering a USB TV tuner. What are some of the better ones available? I have been looking at Hauppauge. They have both a WinTV-HVR-955Q and a WinTV-dualHD. Does anybody here have any thoughts on which is preferable?

    Jim,

It comes down to what you plan on using it for. If you require a tuner that does ATSC digital without NTSC analog, then choose the
    WinTV-dualHD.

If you need a dual tuner stick that does both analog and digital, then the WinTV-HVR-955Q is recommended.

The WinTV-dualHD has an improved TV receiver for digital HDTV, Clear QAM digital cable TV. Since it is a dual tuner, you watch one
channel while recording another; or have picture-in-picture, or two complete TV windows. Two side LED indicators, one shows that
the tuner is loaded into Windows, TV signal strength. If you have cable or satellite box, you should not buy this model.

    PC-interface USB 2.0 (Hi-Speed) or USB 3.0.

This model includes a portable antenna, credit card sized remote control (with batteries), USB extension cable.

Hard disk minimum free capacity is 1 GB, 20 GB recommended. The newer WinTV 8 version application with Titan TV Electronic Program
Guide (EPG) has to be downloaded from the internet (includes activation code).

If you use Microsoft Windows Vista with the latest Service Pack with 1 GB RAM or XP (32 bit) with latest Service Pack with 512 MB RAM,
then I would suggest you use the model below.

The WinTV-HVR-955Q also receives Clear QAM digital cable TV channels. The model can only record one standard at a time.

    PC-interface USB 2.0 (Hi-Speed) or USB 3.0.

A portable antenna is included and can be used to watch digital TV up to 10 miles from the ATSC transmitter, credit card sized remote control,
USB extension cable, video-audio cable to connect to either 'S' video or composite sources. WinTV version 7 application on CDROM; however
you can download WinTV version 8.
