Default 6/29/2010 Rare 2x from Nevada and Utah into Pennsylvania

6/29/2010 (clips re-posted at end of thread)

A remarkable day here for FM-DX

    11:06 AM Eastern / 8:06 AM Pacific
95.5 KNEV Reno, Nevada (Magic 95.5)
    60 kW - Grid DM09
    2325 miles

    Clip is as follows
    (1) starts weak with an ad mention of 356-3300 and janugget.com
    (2) Then an ad with an address of 595 E. Plumb Lane and phone number 789-6700 (this is a match to Reno)
    (3) ad for Sears with searsauto.com mention
    (4) (signal gets stronger) Magic traffic report
    (5) liner 'Magic 95.5 The Best Variety of the 80's 90's and Now'
    (6) Suzanne Vega - Tom's Diner, music track starts (almost the complete song is heard)

yes.com screenshot attached showing Tom's Diner playing at 8:09 Reno time

Amazing since the transmitter is about 15 miles from the California border. I am also quite shocked with the signal strength and duration of the signal.

This was received off the APS-9B pointing 270 deg
    ---

    11:07 Eastern / 8:07 Pacific
    91.3 KNIS Carson City, Nevada
    67 kW - Grid DM09
    2327 miles

Match to Pilgrim Radio website that airs teaching classes. Website schedule notes teaching about The Book of 1st Corinthians.
1st Corinthians is mentioned at least twice in this clip and is noted at the same time of other catches in the Reno/Carson City market.

This was received off my attic mounted dipole.

    ---

    11:08 Eastern / 8:08 Pacific
    88.7 KUNR Reno, Nevada (NPR)
    20 kW - Grid DM09
    2327 miles

NPR break for local weather for the Reno/Carson area and Lake Tahoe area, Morning Edition from NPR news resumes

Signal peaks rather strong at times

This was received off my attic mounted dipole!

    ---

    11:14 AM Eastern / 9:14 AM Mountain
    95.5 KYFO Ogden, Utah (BBN)
    100 kW - Grid DN31
    1912 miles

Clip is typical of what is heard on BBN stations with BBN references. The only two stations on 95.5 with BBN programming are in North Carolina and Utah. WHPE in North Carolina would be 400 miles away to the south which is very short if it were Es. My beam was pointed west with other signals noted to the west at the time and no Es to the south.

Again, the signal is very strong.

This was received off the APS-9B pointing 270 deg

Amazing DX Steve, one for the record books! Especially impressive considering it was more than just one station, and for some only dipoles were used.

This thead has earned a sticky, haha.

Nice catches , Steve! Running 5 radios pays off. I'm just running one here, due to networking difficulties from the spare PC.
During the time you had 2X I was recording 93.9 and WTBX in Minnesota was in/out with a religion station that I'd like to think was Portland , OR or eastern Washington ;-)
