    Default Wthq 750

WTHQ 750 AM (ex WRIK, WNTX) Brookport, IL is back on the air, again. It's running a comedy format now. It's been off for months. This is "normal" for them. It's on a while, it's off a while. It's supposed to be a 500 watt daytimer but I've heard them butting heads with WSB at night. This doesn't surprise me, either. They've done it before.

    Interesting.

If you hear them after their local sunset then they probably doing something under the table. Right now their 'offical' sunset is around 5:15 PM.

FCC site authorizations are from just before sunrise most months to local sunset. Their local sunset is in a different ime zone than WSB.

When I heard WTHQ running at night it was well after sunset. This is "normal" for them.

I checked, last night, and they were off the air after sunset.

Today they are running a program known as "dead air." I haven't heard a peep of audio, all day. This is also "normal" for them. It could go on like this for months. They've done this before, too.

    Whatta waste of RF.

WTHQ has found the program audio. It's still running comedy programming. I have yet to hear a legal ID or advertisement of any kind. Again, this is normal for them.

Late breaking news...I just heard them ID (*gasp!*) and they actually ran an advertisement! ... a political ad, of course but, an an advertisement!
    Amazing.

    WTHQ has changed formats.....again.
It's now running right wing programming. Alex Jones is on as I type.

I'm hearing this very well tonight under phased WSB with a nice TOH ID at 0400 utc and into a quilting program (yes quilting) with mentions of "All quilting, all the time", ads for a local quilt show, Paducah local ads, more quilt talk, another legal ID at 0422 utc, etc. First time I've heard them.

I am laughing at what I am reading in this thread! It's a comedy station! No, it is a conservative talker! NO! It is a QUILTING station!

I just took a stab at this, perhaps they have gone off the air (for some unknown amount of time?!) but all I could get was WSB loud and clear, no matter what direction I turned the radio. I really wish I could have picked this up, not just for the log but to see what format I would get! Good catch, you guys!

Sometimes stations do stunts with formats. Like they will play all polka all the time, or all ragtime, for a period, as the station is changing identities. I wonder if that is going on here?
