I have to rate it as Fair. About the same. A few more new catches, due only to a fortunate week-long IBOC outage at local WXTU which permitted me to clean up on the adjacents. About the same number of openings. Mostly short, spotty and low MUF. But also like last year a Mexican, only this time it was 2-hop. Without that it'd be "Poor".

Only 4 average openings here with more than a couple new stations. The rest of the openings have had low MUFs, rapid fading, and resulted in relogs. No new states, no 2x, and little RDS. Last year had a couple dozen good openings. This is also my first year dxing with no stations coming in by e-skip from IA & NE.

Were it not for the 4 openings, I would have rated the season as terrible. I really hope August & September will bring some new tropo logs.

I'm not going to rate the season until August. However, I will say this has been an odd season. Old pest CKND-2 Minnedosa MB has still not been IDed here. Yet, I've IDed two new Mexico TV stations, received some uncommon IDs from Mexico, and logged two LDTVs via Es.

I'm not quite ready to grade this Es season, either.

    So far...

I've been up to my neck in Mexican stations.

The Canadians have been fairly regular but I've seen better seasons for them.

The Cubans have made a few appearances.

DTV Es has not been very productive. Only re-logs from years past. And there's the problem... Since I dedicate 99% of my DXing time to DTV this Es season had better get with it if I'm gonna log any new ones.

I've had waaaay too many thunderstorms, this year. I'm sure I've missed a few Es events because it just wasn't safe to have the antennas connected.

I'm really hoping I can get a couple of Canadian DTVs when they make the switch but September isn't much for Es so they may have to wait until next year.

I'll give a final grade when Es is done for the Summer.

I said Fair/Average because I logged thirty new stations via Es this season, which would put it as good, but I put it as fair because I had few openings where I logged IDed stations, and this year all openings have been to the Southwest, CA or CO/WY, and not the more "exotic" states for me like SD/NE (with few logs for those states).

I voted good because of most of the stuff I have gotten this year has been new for me as i am still a newbie to a degree. Plus my historic short e-skip of WBRA DTV at 317 miles. And my 2 times getting 47.9 Santiago Chile on my pro-2006 scanner. But lets hope we have another 3 weeks or more of good E-Skip openings for us to work.

I'm voting poor or below average for this year's E skip season. All of the openings here have been very fleeting. I kept waiting for things to really get going but they haven't, at least in this neck of the woods. However, this July was much, much better than last July. It's looking like tropo may be above average this fall. Let's hope.

On a purely personal level, I rated it as good. Although I didn't spend as much time as I could have on DTV Es, (only 1 catch...KNOP) my main focus was analog. I did add 14 new ATV's to my personal log...all south of the border. Wasn't able to break any previous distance records, but maybe next year.
