Mostly Mexican MWDX to Enid OK, July 28-August 3, 2017

These logs are excerpts from my daily all-band reports, mainly SWBC, also VHF/UHF, sometimes utility, ham, which may be found in several archives without much delay, such as
    http://www.hard-core-dx.com/index.php?topic=Hauser

And compiled weekly along with extensive news from many other individuals and publications in DX LISTENING DIGEST:
    http://www.worldofradio.com/dxldmid.html

All my MW DX reports starting August 2011 are archived in this forum with open access:
    http://forums.wtfda.org/showthread.p...-Hauser/page60
[over 233,000 views! as of August 4, 2017]

All times and dates strictly UT. Rx: mostly DX-398 with internal antenna only or PL-880; NRD-545 with ALA-330S inside E-W or inside randomwire N-S; Nissan stock caradio as specified; ICR-75 E-W longwire

** MEXICO. 540, August 3 at 1055, choral NA already playing from WSW, 1058 as expected ``La Ranchera de Paquimé``, XETX sign-on full ID from Nuevo Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, along with 90.5 FM, street address, Grupo BM Radio (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO [and non]. 540, August 3 at 1058, having just heard XETX sign on, now there is another Mexican NA in its null toward the SSE, and 1100 ID as ``Los Cuarenta``, i.e. XEWA, San Luís Potosí, SLP.

At this angle I am also getting a low het, but no time to pin it down, suspected Nicaragua where Managua sunrise is not until 1132 vs 1140 here. On July 8 until 0459*, Bruce Conti in NH measured R. Corporación on 539.859 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 660, August 3 at 1103, choral NA from SSW, 1105 into music but interjecting ``La Kaliente 102.9``, i.e. XEEY, Aguascalientes2, 50/10 kW (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 710.0, August 3 at 1106, bit of ``Ode to Joy`` theme, or rather whatever hymn has stolen its tune, and sermon in Spanish about el muro de Jerusalén. Voice sounds like same guy I frequently hear a few minutes later in bajoalemán, i.e. XEDP, La Ranchera de Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, not on the off-frequency transmitter at the moment. Maybe he appreciates Beethoven (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Pacific MW carrier search: the ``season`` has begun --- I`d rather be sleeping, but since I`m awake, August 3 at 1047, a quick check for TP carriers, on 9 kHz steps via the handheld DX-398: Yes, JBA ones detected only on 774 from the WSW, i.e. 3LO Melbourne, Australia; and at 1049, 1098 kHz from the west, i.e. V7AB, Marshall Islands. Sunrise here: 1140 UT (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Domestic MWDX to Enid OK, July 28-August 3, 2017

All times and dates strictly UT [4 hours ahead of `ELT` during EDT; when changing times one must also change the dates for events in the 00-04 UT period to the previous date by ELT].

Rx: mostly DX-398 with internal antenna only or PL-880; NRD-545 with ALA-330S inside E-W or inside randomwire N-S; Nissan stock caradio as specified; IC-R75 with E-W longwire. FRG-7 is no longer in use.

These logs are in four sections, Canada [if any], Oklahoma [if any], rest of USA [if any], unidentified [if any], separated by ======= Within each, they are in frequency order

** U S A. 880, August 3 at 1113 UT, YL with news about infrastruxure funding, on the ``World Radio Network`` --- huh? N/S so obviously KRVN Lexington NE; 1115 UT website worldradio.com and discuss Nebraska corn crop, on ``Nebraska World Radio`` --- huh? We already have the WRN based in London and the religious HCJB-affiliated WRN in the RGV.

I honestly thought they were saying ``world`` but website reminds me it`s really ``Rural``! And any qualified Nebraskan may join the NRRA for $25 and get a certificate. Other stations in the group are KNEB 960 and KTIC 840. Anyhow, the world beyond its daytime coverage area will be trying to hear KRVN around 1800 UT August 21 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

    ** OKLAHOMA. 1530, August 4 at 1203 UT, `La Que Buena`` also
mentioning Oaxaca almost sounding like an ID, but probably a musical
group; from KXTD Wagoner OK (Tulsa market), 5 kW daytimer (Glenn
    Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. Looking thru long pdf by frequency of TIS & HAR stations:
    http://www.ircaonline.org/TIS_2016.pdf
I search on OK and don`t find much in this state, but some odd ones on
split frequencies in the X-band, all with same callsign KD8618:
    1614, 1628, 1652, 1676, 1700 kHz, licensed until 12/07/24 to:
    ``Conoco-Philips Communications Inc., Bartlesville, (Industrial
Business Pool)``. Four of those should really stand out if they are
ever active. Will have to seek them the next time I`m at OK Mozart.
Callsign format of two letters plus four numbers implies they are
mobile/portable units (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WORLD OF RADIO 1891, DX
    LISTENING DIGEST)

    ==============

    ** U S A. 1370, August 9 at 1158 UT, ad for Coyote Tractors on highway
290, 1159 UT ID as Fox 1370, but 1200 UT into CBS News bong. This
doesn`t quite compute, so my research finds: Google is smart enough to
correct Coyote to Kioti! US 290 connects San Antonio to Austin to
Houston TX. The only 1370 along this route is KJCE Rollingwood =
Austin market, and it`s Talk 1370, not Fox 1370. Wikipedia and NRC AM
Log of last year confirm it carries CBS news; and the find-a-Kioti-
dealer website goes to this: Paige Tractors, 4409 Highway 290 East,
Paige, TX, 78659, Distance: 46 miles from KJCE`s Austin zipcode of
78746. Wiki also informs that call derives from a previous branding
``K-Juice``. It`s 5/0.5 kW U4 (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

    ** U S A. 1480, August 12 at 1123 UT, open carrier/dead air, at first
suspected KBXD Dallas until I hear that in Spanish gospel underneath,
so now presumed KQAM Wichita, and making usual slow SAH together
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

    ==========

UNIDENTIFIED. 1710, Aug 7 at 0539 UT, JBA carrier even with R75
preamps off; perhaps pirate as reported sometimes, or TIS. I usually
start/end MW bandscans here with nothing heard. There are also
Australian and Argentine broadcasters (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING
    DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 610, August 12 at 1129 choral NA, loops about SW, fade for
ID at 1130. More and more XE`s are playing anthem at hourbottoms for
some reason. Most likely XEBX Sabinas, Coahuila, but would welcome
further XESAC Saltillo, or XEEL Zacatecas. Also often heard is XEGS
Guasave, Sinaloa, which is partly // 650 XETNT (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
    LISTENING DIGEST)

** MEXICO. 650, August 12 at 1131, full IDs, maybe sign-ons for Radio
65, XETNT, and XHTNT, 106.5, Los Mochis, Sinaloa; 1133 into `Rincón
Norteña` music (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

    ** MEXICO. 660, August 12 at 1105, after choral NA, XEDTL sign-on,
Radio Cuidadana of IMER, Ciudad de México, also on an HD2 of some FM
frequency. XEEY Ags2 was already on and QRMing (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
    LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. Trans-Pacific JBA MW carrier search, August 11 at 1053-
1055: 774 and 882 from WSW, presumably Australia/New Zealand. Another
on 1098 has no null, so likely local birdie rather than Marshalls
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 774, Aug 12 at 1109, JBA carrier looping WSW, likely 3LO
Melbourne. This so weak that I don`t bother with a complete 9-kHz
bandscan, but instead search for 10-kHz Mexicans at SRS (Glenn Hauser,
    OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

UNIDENTIFIED. 1020-, Aug 12 at 1113 UT, annoying low het to KOKP Perry
OK, slightly on low side; in addition to a much closer SAH to KOKP.
Also heard previous mornings; can`t get a reliable bearing on it or
    enough signal to separate it.

BTW, 740 KRMG Tulsa still suffers from a horrible rumbling low het
around sunrise from XEQN, Torreón, Coahuila, as previously IDed (Glenn
    Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)
