Default Double hop! KKWQ 92.5 MN

    Hi

It's been a poor start to the 2013 DX season, but, I caught this at 2150 UTC today Memorial Day, attached.

I went to the URL and then Google Maps, leading me to go to Radio-Locator because I remembered Warroad MN. As the station's site had no contact link, I made a phone call, using R-L's info, and talked to Chuck Kenworthy, who gladly verified this for me. He said that it was himself who did the ad.

I coulda heard it longer if not for Maxima 92.5 in Tampa Bay.

    This is 1,770 miles!

[EDIT: The URL I mentioned is NOT in the clip, sorry. It was a .ca site, but I saw it was in Manitoba!]

Sorry not to have an ID in there, but this is where the Web comes in big-time. Looking at my visited sites, by typing in ".ca", shows that I must have heard www.ebch.ca , which started my sleuthing.

This is my first 2Es of any kind----seriously could it really be 1-hop at that distance? I see that Mike-CT made this a sticky. Thank you!

1,500mi is up toward the max for single hop and you've well exceeded that. It's double hop.

Totally unscientific analysis on my part, but I definitely think this was double-hop. Just about simultaneous to your receptions, I noted two distinctly different clouds with MUF into FM here, just after 1800 ET. One brought me Es from NE/IA/KS, while a second very weak cloud brought me two receptions of KTKC-LA and KRMX-TX on 92.9. I attached a map from FMList (great feature) of logs I submitted to it during the opening. If you draw a line on the map from your location in FL to KKWQ, it's easy to see how the clouds lined up to make the reception possible.

    Congrats Christopher!

^ Wow, then this is one rare arrangement, I'd think! I have a personal problem often, not believing myself, when I catch something that seems too good to be true (like that F2 or TEP to Brazil & Peru last year----I recorded the Frecuencia Latina archive video of that date Feb 29 2012 to make sure that the dialog matched what I caught----that's the way I am).

It sure helped that Chuck recognized that it was his voice on the clip, AND that they don't stream at this time, AND that the only other co-owned station is AM 1410 Sooooooooooooo...... This was truly a blessing.
