I can't find a registration for the Symsonia one, just a Verizon tower west of town. I think the Golo tower might be the American Tower one, as I'm not 100% sure where Golo is. Not sure who's on it, but I can't find evidence that T-Mobile is on either one.

Thanks for looking, Trip... fwiw, the cell site RF crud covers roughly 622 - 627 MHz.

Golo, KY is where the infamous WJLI 98.3 FM tower is located...

      http://forums.wtfda.org/showthread.p...I-98-3-tx-site

... The aforementioned cell site is, maybe, a couple of miles S-SW of the WJLI tx site.

btw... Did WJLI ever pay the FCC all the $ it owed?... See: "WJLI-98.3 IL potentially revoked" thread in the, "Members Only General Chat" section of the forum.

Yeah, okay, I found the tower at Golo then. I found the WJLI tower and then the cell tower was south of it a short ways. I couldn't tell who was on it because it's registered to American Tower and there are no microwave licenses on it. If you had a picture of the antenna racks on the tower, I could probably tell you more about it; I'd usually use Google Street View for that but the imagery in that area is blurry imagery from 2009.

The next time I'm out wandering around I'll take a picture of the site.... Maybe even the Symsonia site, too.

Something dawned on me just today... Our local power co, West KY Rural Electric Co-Op (aka W KY Flicker & Flash) has recently gone to an automated RF meter reading system operating somewhere in the 900 MHz range... I wonder if some of these towers might be theirs.

This morning, I've seen several truck-loads of gravel being hauled into the new cell site... I suspect they're laying the groundwork for the equipment shed... Will the new cell site come on line, before the end of phase 6 TV repack, and ruin my chances of DXing, newly opened, channels 38 thru 51 ?... This, being the, "Murphy's Law Test Site" my money's on, yes... The clock is ticking...

It may not be as bad as I thought... Maybe... I visited the new cell site and talked with the electrical techs who were wiring the site in preparation for equipment installation... These were the AC power guys, not the RF guys... They tell me the new site will, initially, be operating on frequencies from 700 MHz and up... I'm already low-pass filtered for that part of the spectrum so things may not be as bad as I first thought... However, I won't know for sure until I talk with the RF techs whenever they show up... As for what will be added to the tower in the future, who knows... Time will tell...

I believe T-Mobile are the only ones using 600Mhz for cell service as of now. They have a PDF list of towns where 600Mhz is available (or will be in the near future?)
                DX Radios:
                Sony XDR-F1HD
                Sony XDR-S10HDiP

That's interesting. I'll know which areas to avoid for portable DXing if I expect any channel 39's and channels 40's to decode.

Q1: How large is that PDF file?

Q2: If it's less than 1 meg can I talk one of you into sending to me via e-mail?

My antique computer / soup-cans-and-a-string dial-up won't work with the link. I get the, all too familiar, "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" message when I click on the link.

Update: Thanks Jim & Mike... Got the info... (See the next 2 posts)

The new cell site appears to be up and running and hasn't caused any new RF interference issues... I may have been spared, this time...

... Wrong... In order to maintain balance in the universe, Murphy often gets involved...

So... The crane crew, on their way out, after installing the cell site antennas, ran over, and squashed, my mailbox...

                            ... Balance has been restored.
