  • SS 87.9---anybody familiar w/ this??

OK---hot & heavy Es to mostly New England with some exceptions on July 3, 2015.

Had errands to do, so I set Total Recorder to 87.9 & found this. It's SS and all I can glean is that it's called Universal Radio. Google showed a Guatemalan called Universal *Stereo*, but there was also a Facebook hit that mentioned "NJ" and I assume this would be in New Jersey. DJ's name sounded like Joaquin Lopez, but it was muddled.

This might be the same 87.9 of which Iowacane & I could not hear anything but salsa music. So----somewhere in NJ?

BTW whenever Es are too wild on FM, it's always a curious thing to check 87.9 or even lower. You never know what shows up.

    I found this on Twitter:

    https://twitter.com/elcorodeportivo

    "L-V de 12 a 1pm La Kalle 96.3FM LV [La Vega, RD] y en NJ 87.9FM 809 Universal Radio. Ucateci TV L-V 7 a 8pm. Diferente a los Demas."

That refers to it as 809 Universal Radio — 809 is the area code for the Dominican Republic.

And look, when we get that missing piece their website promptly follows!

They also have contact information on that mostly-placeholder website:

    "Telefono : 201 - 588 - 9166 Email : info@809universalradio.com"

The 201 area code would indicate a location in northern New Jersey.

I saw that Twitter deal as well, Raymie. The LV threw me off---could be Lunes a Viernes or Las Vegas or La Vega like you have. "809" was not mentioned in that ID...however I am sure that is what it was. Thanks!

I think I'll send the mp3 to that e-mail address above. BTW the only DTV that decoded for me was WJLP 3, soooooooooooo.......

The "L-V" with dash is "lunes a viernes", and they mention they are in La Vega, RD in their Location field on the account.

Nice catch, cd! I have not been up in that portion of Jersey in a while, but I recall something sounding similar the last time I was there driving close to Newark airport. I am unsure of an exact location, but this Facebook clip of the station seems to suggest Jersey City (right across from NYC): https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=896380620387153

Beats hearing the mess of signals you probably hear when you get FM Es to our region, I am sure.
