  • If this isn't CHBX, "Sault" me!

Got CTV at about 12:30 ET...I always assume it's the CKCO relay. However I noticed the following, what you see below---the WinTV can't reproduce analog 100%, but you can faintly see "Sault Community Career Centre" & the Community Calendar, "Sault Ste. Marie & Area" below that.

My issue: the website, ctvnorthernontario.ca , covers both CHBX & CKCO. Do the two indeed separate for Community Calendars? (Remember the Global issue I had last year between CKND & CIII.)

Sorry I cannot get better pictures. Looks better on VHS.

I haven't seen the calendar this year; but in years past they were separate, with CHBX running the one for Sault.

Christopher, I just thought of something. CKCO was part of CTV Southwestern Ontario, not CTV Northern Ontario. Have they changed?

Danny, I keep forgetting that CKCO is based in Kitchener---I don't think that the ch 2 Wiarton CTV separates from *it*. Also, although you do not see the pic, Sault Community Career Centre's website shows the same logo I saw onscreen. (Small text is hard to grab sometimes.) Joe's had a different logo on their site, but maybe the thing onscreen was done by the CTV folk.

Jon said 2 weeks ago that I caught the 89.5 CBC in Sault, and you said you have seen a split feed (after all, why would Georgian Bay have Sault Ste Marie activities?), I am sure this was CHBX. I e-mailed the CTV for backup this afternoon, but I'm more convinced of this one than the Global malaise last year.

I know that CKCO (13, Kitchener) itself is still not connected directly to CIII (5) Sudbury. I know that CKCO2 (2, Wiarton) had been slated for deletion some time ago, but still remains on the air, nevertheless. The area covered by CKCO 2 does have more in common with Northern Ontario than it does with the 401 corridor, but I have not heard anything about CKCO 2 being switched from the CKCO group to the CIII (MCTV-CTV) group.

If I recall correctly, when I was hearing both CHBX and CKCO2 about a month ago, that they were running different ad strings. I did see an ad for Science North (a Sudbury attraction) on CHBX - I have never seen an ad for them on semi-local CKCO3 (42).

Note that CKCO2 has a novelty carrier - tends to be a few hundred Hz up in frequency from 55.240 and a slight "siren".

I agree with you that this is CHBX, so you can drop your lawsaultt!
