Es today. After 6 years DXing, XEW-2 comes in with new style text ID. I can read "XEW-TV" but can't make out what is below it. My camera didn't like the white background. I think the text was rotating with something else. Best viewed in 720p. Danny, also a couple of screenshots we talked about(not very good). The second pic shows XEW-TV.

The second half of the ID reads: CIUDAD DE MÉXICO

Part of the reason the Mexico City stations get special treatment is because of the way the Mexico City signals are used for the national must-carry/must-offer on satellite. Azteca apparently has put "METROPOLITANO" on the Mexico City stations before. So the special ID type is like an indicator.

Nice catch on XHHHN-2. That ID reads:

with the date underneath. (I've used a monospace font to reflect the one they use. 16 characters per line, up to 4 lines.)

Excellent Raymie, thanks. On the TV as it happened, I thought I saw MEXICO on the second line, but wasn't sure.

At the 3 second mark it switches to XEW-TV for a split second.

Graet job, Mike. As I told you earlier, you are the first DXer to see a text ID on XEW.

XEW is in perfect Es range of me, and I've spent many, many hours watching and recording an unID XEW station on channel 2
while XHTV-4 was being received. Before that Foro stuff, XHTV was an easy ID, and the programming was not relayed all over
the country.

I'm not sure if I ever received the Oaxaca XHHHN-2. I don't count it. I used to see those old-style, big-letter IDs that simply
read "XHHHNCH2." I have seen the Tehuacan relayer since the widespread use of tiny text IDs and the Tehuacan XHHLO-5.

I saw XHSLT-2 for the first time in ten years. It looks pretty good on tape, but the photo I posted yesterday in the LA
section is lackluster. Odd year for Es.

So Danny, that old "4tv" logo (the turned cube) meant that it actually was XHTV? I'm sure I've seen it, but not sure if I have it on tape. Would love in the off-season to look and see if I have that. I think that my only "saved" tapes are from 2010 on, and I am sure that the 4tv was from '09, just after WFOR went digital.

That is correct, Christopher. The "4tv" logo was used in 2009. Before that, XHTV was "Central 4/C4."

BTW, I'm building a new page for my XHTV photos. I'm going to delete the DF page after the new Estado de Mexico page is built.
Televisa's DF transmitters are actually on Pico Cerro Tres Padres, Mexico.

Actually the 4tv logo is being used at midnight in XHTV yet, at that time there are old shows and "Pare de sufrir".

Thinking back on it, I kinda think that the "XHHHNCH2" might have been the Huajuapan station after all. I wonder when the Tehuacán shadow was set up, and I know that whichever station had that type of ID had to have been set up alongside all the Radiotelevisora de México Norte stations as those 62 stations carried the black box ID type.

IDs back in 1994-1995 mentioning two cities, and that may have been one of those.

That would have been when they were setting up the network. Keep in mind too that I don't think Mexican stations had to have the city in their IDs until the late 90s/early 2000s. Most equipment couldn't insert more than 8 characters. Televisa's "16x4" setup that they rolled out after 2000 allowed them to add cities and whatnot to their IDs.

One thing I saw that I failed to mention about XEW-2, during a commercial break, between ads there was a full screen view of the Televisa logo(stayed maybe 3-4 seconds). First time I'd seen it like this, it was like I said, full screen and sort of silvery-transparent. Unfortunately, I wasn't ready with my camera. Would have made an interesting photo.

After tinkering with my iphone's replay settiings on the original video, I'm able to play back literally frame-by-frame, which allowed me to see a little better...what Raymie could see from the beginning.
