  • Low Band VHF DTV Tropo (100+ Miles)

To date, WWMT-DT-2, Kalamazoo, MI @ 188 miles, is the only low band VHF DTV station I've been able to decode via tropo after almost six years of DTV DXing. If you have success decoding any DTV station on channels 2-6 via tropo (100+ miles) please post them here and maybe it will give us a sample as to which low band VHF DTV stations are more readily received (decoded). Thanks.

    WWMT-DT-2, Kalamazoo, MI 6.9kW @ 1,001 feet (188 miles)
    Last received 4/11/08

I am curious, was this on a Zenith DTT900? Looks like their OSC graphics.

Myself, I have received WKYC-DT 2 at almost exactly 100 miles, and yes, it's one of the most difficult Cleveland DTV to receive.

While a few high-band DTVs in the 100-200 mile range are fairly common here, the only low-bander received via tropo has been KPXB-DT-5 Conroe TX (Houston) at 222 miles. KPXB-DT is by no means a regular catch.

Rob, it's technically the Insignia NS-DXA1, which is also the Zenith DTT900.

          WBBM-DT 3, Chicago @ 156 Miles

While seeing some digital hits from WBBM-DT 3, Chicago, Sunday evening, I left the Zenith DTT900 on overnight. This morning I found the receiver displaying the PSIP.
