2024 FM DX to Enid OK

    Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 wghauser@yahoo.com

How I FM DX: this is not a competition to rack
up totals: I do not count stations, states, countries or anything. I
report what I hear with as much research as I can manage to identify,
but make no irrefutable claims without evidence. Each DX catch unID or
not is a potential learning experience. Always welcome ID help. I
don`t use an external antenna any more: I get plenty of DX on the
caradio; sometimes on a DX-398 where I can manipulate the telescopic
in real time vs nearby or DX CCI, which also has RDS capability.

These are all on caradio in garage which of course does have a STereo
indicator when activated. All times and dates are strictly UT. Main
reference the excellent WTFDA FM Database. Distances are km/statute
    miles city-to-city, not site-to-site, from distancefromto.net Showing
them does not necessarily imply greater ID accuracy. I do not have
Internet access while DXing, no comparing with webstreams, nor even
consulting the FMDB. Nor do I make any recordings. I already have to
spend more time on post-research than during axual DX sessions.

These are excerpted from my weekly all-band log roundups via:
    http://www.worldofradio.com/Hauserlogs.html

This report is all about sporadic E. I compile a separate report
concerning Oklahoma and groundwave/tropo from nearby states.

First major sporadic E FM DX opening of the
season, May 16 from 2259 UT past 0110 UT May 17, at least from
    Campeche, Yucatán, Flórida:

As I am recording WORLD OF RADIO 2243 on Thursday afternoon May 16, I
check DXMAP and see an MUF spike of 109 MHz! east of here, so pause to
check DX in the car, which it turns out is coming from SE Mexico
    instead:

99.3 at 2259, Spanish rap about ``los Federales``, fading up and down
to inaugurate our sporadic E FM DX season; 2301 something about ``pura
    --- vida``, ``Exa FM 99.3``; 2305 ad for a móvil, in pesos, and for
Bancaya (sp?). Fringe KLOR Ponca City overridden, audible at fades.
2305 back to studio and WOR. 2330 next check a bit of English, ID with
``Front Row``, maybe something else. 2343 cancer PSA from Secretaría
de Salud, mention Isla Mérida. This must be XHMRA-FM in Mérida,
Yucatán, 91.488/91.488 kW ERP. How`s that for precision? There are two
other Exas on 99.3 beyond, in far Acapulco and Cd. Obregón. 2344 ad
for nationwide store El Soriano. After I take another break, now UT
    May 17 at 0009, another ID as ``Exa FM 99.3``. 1893 km/1176 stmi

101.5 at 2302, Spanish JBA - got to be careful here, there are SS
closest to us both in OK and KS. But ID as 101.5 FM, something about
Península, and Mexican political ad. Surely XHYK-FM, Conkal, Yuc,
25/25 kW. Only other on an almost-island is in La Paz, BCS. Yes, at
    0010 May 17, a Yucatán political ad. 1886/1172

    105.9 at 2333, slogan ``más música que oye`` - not sure of last word;
and commercial for {sex} hormones, you don`t? hear on US radio. 0001
May 17, station or program name Balanza? News of looking for corpses
in a cold case of 10 years; ``Balance Media Globe`` sounds like
English, then ``Súper Stéreo 105.9`` and rock in English. These may be
two different stations. Besides being in the PTA, latter slogan leads
only right to XHFCY-FM, Kanasín, Yuc, 25/25 kW. No hits searching on
    Balanza/Balance whatever. 1899/1180

100.1 at 2337, bit of Spanish vs 99.9 local LPFM. Based solely on PTA
= probable target area, of the 20 XH`s on 100.1, the only one in Camp
or Yuc is XHYU-FM, 7.5/7.5 kW in Mérida. 1893/1176

100.3 at 2337, a sign of Spanish. 2357 ad in Spanish, or rather PSA
    from Secretaría de Salud, ad for Hot Sale, promo for program at 4 pm;
address in 24039 código postal, Campeche, XHMI 100.3 ID; 2359 TC, Son
las 6``. XHMI-FM 100.3 in San Francisco de Campeche, Camp, 39.8/39.8
    kW. 1974/1227

    97.3 at 2347, Spanish music, talk, 5:49 TC at 2349; 2351 R. Fórmula
ID; 2353 vote for PAN ad; 2355 Campeche ad, promo program at 8 am and
    17 pm; ``Radio Fórmula Campeche 97.3 FM``. Slogan ID again at 0009.
This is XHRAC-FM, also in San Francisco de Campeche, 25/25 kW.
    1974/1227

    Following are UT May 17:

92.1 at 0005, music in mono overriding weak OK signal. Only one in
Yuc/Camp PTA is XHMYL-FM, Mérida, 2.85/2.85 kW. Not listed as mono and
a CHR format should be in stereo. But mono-mode info is woefully
    incomplete. 1893/1176

94.5 at 0006, Spanish talk, nothing further. In PTA of Yuc/Camp there
are two in Yuc: XHVG-FM Mérida 10.0/10.0 kW; and XHMIN-FM, Tizimín
3.0/3.0 kW. Of course with Es we can make no assumptions based on
minor power differentials. 1947/1210 = Tizimín

95.3 at 0007, Spanish music fighting KOKC translator in OKC which
really gets out from a high tower. Enid 95.1 LPFM CP not yet on. Only
95.3 in Camp/Yuc is XHMH-FM, Mérida, 25/25 kW, Candela FM. Many of
these are familiar from previous openings. This one originating on AM
970 even had a SW relay on 6105, widely reported in 2009/2010y.
    1893/1176

96.7 at 0008, dramatic Spanish, maybe an ad? Nothing further. Only
Camp/Yuc is XHESE-FM, Champotón, Campeche, 6.0/6.0 kW, Ke Buena.
    2007/1247

I hate to miss any DX, but I also have to finish up WORLD OF RADIO
2243, so another break at 0011-0049, after which I`m getting Florida
    instead:

101.5, still tuned here as I turn caradio back on, immediately at
    0049, ``D101.5.com, Jaxonvil`` = really V101.5, WSOL-FM, Yulee FL,
100/100 kW. Yulee is just N of Jax on I-95. 1636/1017

94.3 at 0101, ``94.3 The Lake, WNFB, Lake City`` overcomes KSPI
Stillwater translator/Bott in KS. WNFB is 50/50 kW. L.C. is west of
Jax near I-10, almost halfway to Tallahassee. 1573/977

97.3 at 0104 mixing with Spanish remnant, Toyota in Ocala ad, 352 area
code ad. Trouble is, no such station in Ocala. Closest would be
Micanopy, N of Ocala on I-75 but closer to Gainesville: WSKY-FM, 50/50
kW. The only other FL fullpower, non-LP, non-translator 97.3 is in
Miami. Micanopy is a very small town, not even in my atlas index.
    1642/1020

    99.3 at 0107, ``Backstage Country`` program or promo. Again at 0110
and ``in the Valley``, ad for oysters & crawfish, so near a coast?
Can`t find any hit on the station list of the show originating in
    Nashville:
    https://backstagecountry.com/where-to-listen/
where the only 99.3 is apparently a translator in Hope AR of KBYB
101.7 Shreveport LA. Not likely, far from PTA and too close for Es.

99.3 at 0108, CCI maybe different station mentions Hampton Roads, i.e.
SE corner of VA, but the only 99.3 in the Norfolk area is a translator
in Virginia Beach, W257BV, The Time Machine Radio Network: doubtful
    but possibly.

    99.3 at 0109, ID as ``BIN 99.3`` i.e. Black Information Network. No
hits on the DB anywhere for BIN abbr. or in full. Only one in
    https://www.binnews.com/stations/
is Montgomery, presumably AL, but own website never reveals callsign!
    https://montgomery.binnews.com/
but that would be W257DS, translator of WMGY-800, ``Praise 96.5`` with
gospel music as also outdated? listed in the NRC AM Log. Is there
another Montgomery anywhere with a radio station on anyfrequency FM?
Yes, NY, WV, IN, but none on 99.3 nor BIN! We do know that BIN claims
99.3 in Mont`y AL due to weather info on website. 1492/927

Opening still going as I have to quit and finish up WOR! I would
certainly appreciate any help in sorting out and IDing these 99.3s.
And any other uncertain ones above.

Finally a sporadic E FM DX opening now at the peak? of the
season; standard boilerplate applies about my methods and objectives
of DXing. All times and dates strictly UT, June 17:

90.1 at 2127 UT, I have KUCO classical music in the background on the
DX-392 when it`s overcome by a pledge drive from WGCU; 2130 ATC, 2132
cut to WGCU news about Fort Myers. It`s only 4.4/4.4 kW. Then I head
for the caradio! 1866 km/1160 stmi

    93.1 at 2137, 2154, 2204, dead air in $tereo as I have been hearing
lately, maybe not Es, but like Es, it fades out completely between
full-quieting peaks. If it`s a FL PTA as above, there are only two
full-powers in state, WFEZ Miami, 98/98 kW; and WKRO-FM Port Orange,
24.5./24.5 kW, way up next to Daytona Beach. Is anyone aware of a
    deadair 93.1 anywhere?

From listings in WTFDA and Radio-locator, you might conclude 93.1 be
merely K226BR, Enid, 250/250 watt translator of KIMY 93.9. It`s been
off the air for years! In May *2013* I said it had been gone for a few
weeks; but apparently still licensed, and its dead air would correlate
with the deadair on KIMY, but hardly a constant local signal. Only
other Okies on 93.1 are KWLB Red Oak 19.5/19.5 kW, but way off in the
SE near Wilburton; and K226CW, 170/170 watt translator in Stillwater,
of KOKP 1020, Perry, Triple Play Sports. Now that could be it.
    Stillwater: 80/50

    93.5 at 2140, ``Revolution 9-3-5``, i.e. WBGF Belle Glade FL, 24/24
kW. Alludes to dance format, not politix! 1950/1212

94.5 at 2142, hard rock on a frequency `open` for DX, not much around
here. The three full-powers in FL are WARO Naples 99/99 kW, classic
rock; WFLF-FM Parker 100/100 kW, rock; and WCFB Daytona Beach 97.5/100
kW, urban AC. Naples is the one closest to 93.5 Belle Glade, 2 minutes
ago and to Ft Myers, 1 minute later. Parker is allegedly near Pánama
City, way up in the panhandle per map key altho I don`t see it.
    Naples: 1902/1182

    95.3 at 2143, rock, ``95-3 The Beach``: that`s WOLZ Fort Myers, 79/79
    kW. 1866/1160

103.5 at 2148, ``Power 103.5``, fakeout, is merely KVSP Anadarko OK.
Despite a hot summer afternoon, I`m also faked out by above average,
near-local levels from Ponca and Wichita on 98.7, 99.3, 104.7.

99.3 at 2145, Spanish vs KLOR Ponca City, with a 1-800 number so
likely USA station. This could well be WWCN, Fort Myers Beach, 45/45
kW. In the PTA and the only 99.3 FL SS.
    1868/1161

92.7 at 2152, mention US1 and Key West ad: so it`s WEOW 100/100 kW.
    2022/1256

After a break, I check again at 2312, but no Es DX.

DXMAP shows FM DX sporadic-E nexus over eastern Arkansas, a
bit too close to be effective here, but check it out in the car
anyway, June 21 at 1716 UT. Isolated signal on 94.5 fading way in and
completely out several times, ad for romanocars.com in Syracuse, and
also Fayetteville, various brands: unseems two different stations, so
is there a Syracuse in NC, likely direxion beyond AR? NO, but
Fayetteville is a suburb of Syracuse NY! 1724 another ad mentioning
Syracuse. So it is per WTFDA FMDB:
    WYYY 94.5 SYRACUSE NY 100.0 kW 198.0m 42-56-46 76-07-07 Y94 The 80s To
    Now Adult Hits ADULT CONTEMPORARY

I see that I have also logged WYYY the past two summers. Total
bandscanning bottom to top does not find any other likely Esignals. I
take a break and resume at 1800, after DXMAP as of the hour until 1748
had the major nexus over central Illinois, which is just about right
for midway to Syracuse. 1993 km/1239 miles

93.9 at 1800, Meximx briefly CCI to Watonga which is still modulating.
    Surely not KWDW-LP, OKLAHOMA.

95.3 at 1801, CCI to KOKC translator says ``Saratoga County, New
York`` - unless it was mentioned on KOKC CBS news itself. Not enough
to go on, but I investigate: there is only one station more than 1 kW
in this part of NY besides LI, on opposite side of Adirondax from
Saratoga County, and not too far from Syracuse in another direxion:
    WLFK 95.3 GOUVERNEUR NY 6.0 kW 100.0m 44-20-22 75-24-00 COUNTRY THE
    WOLF 95.3
    2085 km/1296 miles.

Saturday June 22, I`m not up and checking DXMAP until 1530
UT when I see a huge mess of sporadic E FM DX lines across
central/eastern USA with MUF above 100 MHz. So I hasten to check on
    the DX-398 inside:

94.5 at 1534, ad mentioning the beach, ``Q-94`` non ID; RDS shows
SABRINA_, later FEATHER_, i.e. music refs, not ID. So it is:
    WRVQ 94.5 RICHMOND VA 200.0 kW 109.0 m 37-24-15 77-18-55 HD Title &
    Artist on Q94 CONTEMPORARY HIT RADIO Q-94 -- 1817 km/1129 mi

If it were merely Q94 the only hit on 94.5 would be Harlingen TX by
searching the Slogan field. So is there a hyphen in the VA one or not?
Stations should be required to utter ``dash`` or ``hyphen`` if that`s
the case. And look at that power, twice the normal 100 kW limit. How
did they pull that off? Richmond is inland, not on a beach.

Re FM DX log of WRVQ 94.5, Greg Hardison replies: ``I
checked the WRVQ entry on Radio-Locator, and sho' 'nuff, it jives out
there as 200 kW! I expected a bit of Corporate-Radio BS, perhaps
counting 100 kW twice, as in H + V modulation. So then checked it on
the FCC FM Query page: same deal, logging in at 200 kW. Apparently it
must pay to have connections, hi hi! And it's no real surprise to hear
a spot mentioning "the Beach". Much of my family's from that part of
the planet, and there is a good amount of commercial-and-leisure
trans-traffic up & down I-64 between Richmond and the Hampton Roads
area; much more so than one sees between Rchmd and D.C., which is only
about forty miles further away. As for the "ad" on the Liberty Univ.
Outlet, remember, the RW extremists are above any mere laws, so if
they are not divinely struck down while airing commercials below 92
MHz, then it must be all good! :^)> :^)>``

A few FM stations, notably in Michigan, were ``grandfathered`` in with
excessive powers. I just went thru all 634 MI stations in WTFDA FMDB,
    and found only these super-powers:
93.7 320/320 kW ERP WBCT Grand Rapids
104.3 190/190 kW ERP WOMC Detroit
105.7 265/265 kW ERP WSBW Grand Rapids
And of the 515 VA stations, only one other >100/100 kW ERP:
99.1 190.9/190.9 kW ERP WSLQ Roanoke

    I wonder if they acquired over-powered transmitter(s?) and/or greater
antenna gain? But especially how they justified greater coverage than
    competitors.

94.9 at 1535, ad for Lowe? Fibre Internet, City of Roanoke VA PSA:
    WSLC-FM 94.9 ROANOKE VA 95.5 kW 598.0 m 37-11-50 80-09-11 949 STAR -
    Now Playing Title/Artist COUNTRY STAR COUNTRY 94.9 -- 1597 km/992 mi

95.3 at 1537, ads for Colonial Williamsburg, Kia; Virginia Repertory
Theater, Amelia County Fair; ``New Country K-95``:
    WKHK 95.3 COLONIAL HEIGHTS VA 47.0 kW 156.0 m 37-26-22 77-26-01 K95!
Title & Artist on New Country K95! COUNTRY K-95

If it were merely K95, the only hit on 95.3 would be Willmar MN by
searching the Slogan field. So is there a hyphen in the VA one or not?
Stations should be required to utter ``dash`` or ``hyphen`` if that`s
the case. Amelia County is west of C.Hts., SW of Richmond. 1822 km / 1132 mi

Then I move to the caradio, but the opening is almost finished:

88.3 at 1550, Liberty University mentioned, and several times, ``The
Journey``, commercial mentioning central Virginia; isn`t this the NCE
    sub-band?:
    WRVL 88.3 LYNCHBURG VA 28.0 kW 346.0 m 37-11-50 79-21-06 RELIGIOUS
TEACHING THE JOURNEY Liberty University -- 1667 km / 1036 mi

104.5 at 1605, WTER mentioned, and another station, probably referring
to gospelhuxter net members rather than this frequency, which may only
be normal fringer KZZW Mooreland OK. But WTER is not a valid FM or AM
    call anywhere.

Nothing more to 1630 when I have just missed confirming WOR on WRN. At
1635 DXMAP shows the Es nexus has been over SE Missouri.

Until the next, Best of DX and 73 de Glenn

    Glenn Hauser, P O Box 1684, Enid OK 73702 wghauser@yahoo.com

This report concerns groundwave and tropo DX only in May and June.
All times and dates strictly UT. Standard boilerplate applies
about my methods and objectives of DXing.

87.9, May 10 circa 1845 UT, Mexmx in $tereo, much like
the open carrier before. No announcements. No doubt a part 15 RF
feeder, may not be relaying a terrestrial station. This time I drive
around the block, and then walkabout with DX-398 eyeing signal meter
and conclude it`s coming from about one block away where a house is
undergoing some construxion or fixing; and can also barely hear it
earily. Strangely enough, most of the construxion workers around Enid
    speak Spanish.

DXMAP shows sporadic E between OK and CA up to 96 MHz so at
0240 UT May 16 I hasten to the caradio: of course, nothing unusual
heard until 0256, but I make some nearby notes: at 0242 a distorted
signal I can`t pinpoint to 92.7, 92.9 or 93.1 is concluding an Amber
Alert distorted with 3 tones, and nothing further as if turned off.
All the while a 92.9 was audible under, probably KRQV Tulsa. MAYBE the
nearest 92.7, KWME Welllington KS, was bleeding as I listen further.
On 92.7 itself, too much ACI from 92.5 KOMA. BTW on this caradio,
there is always more ACI splash on the plus than the minus side of any
given frequency. I suspect the digital tuning be slightly misaligned.

    89.3, May 16 at 0241 UT, KIEL, Loyal, the R. 74
International 3ABN station must get a bit of tropo boost so it`s
strong enough to muscle aside local 89.1 translator, allowing me to be
sure that KIEL, even with music, is in MONO. This fact is not shown in
the WTFDA Database. That should be in the MODE field, blank in most
cases meaning surely plain old $tereo. Searching on Mono and OK gets
not a single hit tho there are more than 250 in the whole DB.

91.7, May 16 at 2335 during DX bandscan, I notice that
KOSU is in mono. Have not checked thoroughly but likely mono all day
during NPR/newstalk programs. Split personality, after 0000 UT ``The
Spy`` music has stereo turned on. Long ago when I worked at KOSU, I
recall switching stereo to mono going from classical music to NPR
news. FMDB does not show anything but [blank] mode implying always
stereo. It`s not exactly set up to display 50-50.

DXMAP shows Es FM DX between OK and California, May 25 at
1520 UT, so out to the car to check. I never hear any such, but rather
tropo enhanced as far as Kansas City, almost 300 miles, despite APRS
map showing no connexion into Kansas, just some intra-OK blobs not
quite reaching Enid. These tropos may well be obscuring some
E-skippers. Anyway bandscanning I also note some OKies. Approx.
    city-to-city distances, not site-to-site, on distancefromto.net

92.1, at 1522, strong signal turns out to be only KFXI with singing
ID, and it`s in MONO even during C&W music at 1547. 100/100 kW from
Marlow OK, usually fringely audible. WTFDA does not mark it MONO! 194
    km/121 stmi

94.9, at 1524 $tereo rock, VG signal. This is one of my best ``open
    for DX`` frequencies. Soon ID as ``94-9 KCMO``, ``another 50-minute
music marathon``. That`s 100/100 kW CoL Shawnee KS, a KC suburb. And
no -FM suffix despite the AM 710 station plus 103.7 translator. Could
be confusing. So strong it ought to show RDS icon at least, but
nonesuch at 1553 on DX-398 check, holding it out the window. 404/251

    99.5, at 1529, $tereo, ``Big Country 99.5``, i.e. KXBL, 100/100 kW,
Henryetta OK, rimshotting Tulsa market, our normal fringer. However
searching the FMDB on that slogan, we see it also applies to K258GZ,
250-watt translator of KALV 1430 Alva OK - no doubt separately
programmed from KXBL. And there is a third one in WV, WBYG. 201/125

    92.9, at 1532, ``The River``, i.e. KRQV, 100/100 kW Tulsa; formerly
KBEZ FM The Drive. Hmm, there is a river drive along the Arkansas.
    171/106

97.5, at 1537, several Manhattan KS ads, weather, Eagle Radio. Trouble
is, among the 13 stations licensed there, none on 97.5! BTW, there are
zero licensed to Manhattan NY, but two in MT. Eagle in slogan only
hits a Vermont 97.5! This must really be KJCK, 100/100 kW in Junxion
City KS, no Eagle in DB, rather ``Power Hits 97.5``. 307/191

97.3, at 1539, gospel rock; 1557 ``K-Love``. There are very low power
ones in CO, IN, TX and WI, but this must be the full-power 55/55 kW,
and closest, KLRX, Lee`s Summit MO, near Kansas City. 429/266

95.7, May 25 at 1859 UT on caradio DX bandscan I notice
that local KXLS ``Lahoma`` is OFF. Audiblizes something else JBA
mentioning Bott network. There is one of 140 watts way off in KS, but
this must be K239BT, 250-watt translator of KQCV 800, in The Village,
NW OKC suburb where I dwelt from age 9 to 16. 97 km/60 stmi

107.1, May 25 at 1905, I find one other local signal missing, KNID
``North Enid``. Despite different CoLs, neither plain old Enid, these
are co-owned by Chisholm Trail Broadcasting and from same site west of
Enid. Both are still silent at 2050 & 2230 UT chex. What`s wrong? Not
going to be available for tornado warnings?

90.5, May 25 at 1859-1902, dead air in mono, presumed near-local KGVV
Goltry. Still dead at 2100 recheck; need to notice whether normally in
$tereo. No loss: another gospel huxter. Back on later, in $tereo.
Might have been overriden by local unused part 15 RF feeder? See also
USA for more OKies mixed in DX opening.

89.3, June 9 circa 1645 UT and anytime, KIEL, Loyal, the
3ABN station a.k.a. R. 74 Internationale, remains in MONO only whether
music or talk, and I should add is constantly undermodulated, which
seems odd for an FM station, altho a pervasive problem with AM signals
on SW or MW, presumably because of ageing equipment incapable of full
modulation. Despite my previous reports, WTFDA FMDB still does not
    mark it MONO.

91.7, Sunday June 9 at 1659 UT as I am hunting for Es DX,
notice that KOSU is in $tereo music, and indeed ToH ID also branding
as ``The Spy``. On weekdays the rule is mono until 0000 UT with
    NPR/etc. news/talk, then $ $py. This is amid a bihour 16-18 UT program
per sked, `Toaster Brunch` of Jamaican music [not to be confused with
low-power 6YC-395 in Kingston or 6YC-648 in Montego Bay]. But there is
more $py on weekends; trouble is, KOSU sked does not make it clear
which are which nor which are mono! `The Spy` is title of specific
local-originated music blox, but also applies to music stuff from
elsewhere. O, this explains that Toaster Brunch is the only
Spy-program outside the overnight blox, along with convoluted history
of The Spy branding from one OK station to another, to another, etc.:
    https://www.kosu.org/show/the-spy
I suppose there could be some non-Spy programming with a musical
element, whether or not KOSU master control bother to switch $tereo on
and off. I suppose The Spy deal be financially advantageous for KOSU
as it has endured, despite discouraging public-radio contributors who
would not want any of their money going to support that for which KOSU
    has semisold its soul.

101.3, June 9 at 1648 UT, ad for Burlington, in Garden City.
Surely this be KFDI-FM in distant Wichita, our semi-local, but guess
what? WTFDA DB shows in KS one entry besides KFDI-FM with 100 kW, is a
100-WATT CP, 14m high antenna for a NEW station on 101.3 in GARDEN
CITY! Which I am surely not getting, but I wonder if planned to be a
mere booster for KFDI, jumping the gun with local ad for GC??

102.3 FM, June 10 at 2028 UT, another fruitless search for
Es DX on caradio gets something other than KRMG Tulsa here: Country,
    ``102-3 the Bull`` - that`s KWFS-FM 100/100 kW, Wichita Falls TX.
There are zero 102.3s in KS, and no country 102.3s elsewhere in OK.

93.9, June 12 at 2019 UT, dead air in $tereo, no doubt
semi-local KIMY Watonga. RDS still displays statickly GOSPEL__ /
STATION. Still dead at further chex past 2200. Std remark about how
can a station expect to have any listeners if no one there even
notices when it`s silent? Used to have a translator in Enid on 93.1
which added another level of unreliability.

    107.7, June 9 at 1633 past 1700 UT as I am fruitlessly
bandscanning for any Sporadic E, can`t help but notice dead air in
$tereo here, where near-local quality 92/92 kW KRXO OKC should be,
silly sportstalk. Not only on caradio but on DX-398 showing static
RDS: _CHISE___ -- but that may be holdover from another frequency as I
can`t get it again by tuning away and back. A remote possibility poor
KRXO is being supplanted here by yet another idling Part 15 RF feeder,
but why would it not be on a `clear` frequency? 1830 recheck still DA,
and RDS icon does display tho nothing in the RDS window. Depending on
whip angle, seems to be a weak modulated undersignal, but probably
    from overload.

Re 92.7, OKC traffic report not // 92.5 KOMA: KOMA does
have a translator on 92.9 to analogize its HD2 called The Edge, per
    WTFDA: ``K225BN relays:KOMA-HD2 92.9 OKLAHOMA CITY OK USA 0.2 0.2
    267.7 267.7 35-32-51 97-29-30 188C ROCK 92.9 THE EDGE 139270`` --
could the 92.9 have been off-frequency? Not necessarily right on 92.7.
Or is there any way an HD2 of 92.5 might be audible somehow on an old
non-HD analog caradio tuned to the side? And whatever became of
    subcarriers? original report: U S A below

93.9, June 13 at 1901 UT check on caradio, KIMY Watonga
is *still* dead air in $tereo, that is about 23 hours since I first
noticed it June 12 at 2019. AND, **still** dead air in $tereo June 14
at 1528, and 2052; and 2215 when I get RDS display of THE_____ /
GOSPEL__ / STATION_. Of course I have not monitored constantly, but no
reason to believe they were ever modulating for the last 51 hours at
least and no telling how long before that.

IMHO, a station so incompetent as to broadcast nothing for such a
stretch deserves to have its license revoked, so something else can
make better use of the spectrum! OTOH, the less gospel-huxtering on
OUR AIR, the better. FYI, spelling $tereo with a dollar sign has no
financial implication, just a convention stemming from the late Bruce
Elving`s FM Atlases, a single $ symbol in listings.

93.9, June 16 at 1649, KIMY Watonga, STILL dead air in
$tereo, now 70 hours since first noted June 13. Standard derision.

UNIDENTIFIED. 93.9, June 16 at 1649 UT as I start caradio bandscan for
Es FM DX going on all around here, turn on already tuned here to hear
some Spanish trying to break thru dead air in $tereo, STILL from KIMY
    - but in next 23 minutes not a bit of Es anywhere, and 93.9 SS was
most likely fringe KZRD Dodge City KS. Also at 1651 briefly dead air
in $tereo on 93.1, maybe DX since as soon as that`s gone not much
signal from my usual fringer in KS.

93.9, June 17 at 1950 UT, *still* dead air in $tereo into
caradio, but much weaker than usual; on the way to zero kW too? Now
96+ hours into this futility first noted June 13, from KIMY Watonga.
Streaming still worx via website and a whole buncha platforms, so who
cares about 93.9? Map https://www.thegospelstation.com/ shows a buncha
other FM outlets around OK and TX panhandle, AR and TN. Radio-locator
mentions only one, the long-gone 93.1 in Enid. HQ address in Ada OK,
with 105.1, but which is a mere 75-watt translator of KTGS 88.3, which
is 5.5/5.5 kW in Tishomingo OK. That must really be the net`s
    originator, calls matching slogan.

    95.7 & 107.1, June 19 at 0139, 0346, 0430, 0519, 0627 UT
chex, Enid stations still dead air but showing static RDS of __KXLS__
and __KNID__; finally resumed modulating by 1452 check. I suspect long
delays in fixing such easy? problems are caused by no CE of their own,
    rather having to call upon contract engineer from some other city;
evenmoreso the 93.9 KIMY case, with no local origination, merely a
satellite which cannot even be monitored OTA at HQ.

    ** U S A. 96.7, June 14 at 1530 UT, ``Sports Radio 96.7 and 1310, The
Ticket`` from DFW Metroplex market is strong enough briefly to unsee
any $tereo icon, i.e. talk format is in mono. FYI, $tereo instead of
mono automatically reduces the full-quieting coverage area of an FM
station; by what percentage? This is 90/90 kW KTCK-FM. NOT flagged as
Mono mode in WTFDA FM Database. Some talk stations stay in $tereo
anyway, since some receivers used to ignore mere mono stations; is
this still a problem? And occasional $tereo music in commercials,
    etc., really stands out.

Lacking any sporadic E FM DX, also noticed in this caradio bandscan,
June 14 at 1535 UT, the Bott station on 94.3 west of Wichita in Kansas
is also in mono, i.e. KCVW 100/100 kW in Kingman, not flagged mono in
WTFDA FMDB. Are all Bott FMs in mono? Need to check 95.1 KQCV 100/100
kW ``Shawnee`` = OKC. Searching Slogan field, there are 112 Bott hits
in the DB, many of them translators, not a single one `mono`.

With 100 MHz MUF spike NW of here, another try for Es FM DX,
June 18 from 2235 UT on caradio: no Es but some area obs as far as
    Nebraska:

93.5 at 2235, ``weather for Red Dirt (nation?), on My Country 93.5``:
KKDT Burdett KS 95/95 kW, normal fringer; 2239 tone and NWS warning,
f/out. I thought Red Dirt was more of an Okie thing.

93.9 at 2237, KIMY Watonga OK has *finally* resumed modulating after
5+ days of dead air. Plugs Xmas music all during July on one of The
    Gospel Station streams.

95.7 at 2238 and still past 2322, dead air in $tereo from KXLS Lahoma
OK, and of course also on co-located sibstation 107.1 KNID North Enid.
We have only two commercial radio clusters here and this one keeps
    failing.

    93.1 at 2242, ``93.1 The River, Nebraska`s country station`` surpasses
usual Kansan in the way. Probably to do with storm front across
central KS and NE. This is: KRVN-FM Lexington, 100/100 kW, related to
    the 880 AM station. 514 km/319 stmi

    101.3 at 2245, ``Oklahoma`s best country, K-Law 101`` vs heavy CCI
from Wichita. 100/100 kW, KLAW Lawton.

92.7 at 2248, OKC traffic report in sideband of but not // 92.5 KOMA.
Oops, no such translator listed. Is it really bleeding out of the 92.5
    signal? Very distorted.

101.5, I`ve realized that in DX bandscans the last
several weeks, I have not run across any signal at all in Spanish from
    KOCD Okeene, R. Salvación which is/was a 14 kW relay of KWDW-LP, 100
watts horizontal only in OKC, shown with a different name, R. Bautista
Calvario. However KOCD is also horizontal only and my caradio has
vertical antenna only. But I used to hear it fringily, so suspect it`s
really silent. Only 50 km/31 miles.

MUF spike to 107 MHz NW of here per DXMAP before 0200 UT
June 23, after a day mostly below 88 since big morning Es opening I
mostly missed; so out to the car for bandscan: nothing much, but 89.5,
an ``open for DX`` frequency except for ACI, has something JBA on it:
I rarely even trace KWGS Tulsa. Seems like ID at 0159, ``This is
CF---`` something and shortly gospelhuxterism mentioning prophecy,
body of Christ, etc. Any clues at WTFDA FM DB? After 0230 it`s
inaccessible, `Bad Gateway`, server overload. So I pull out the final
FM Atlas from 2010y: only 3 stations in western Canada, AB and BC,
none of them with CF-calls. O, WRTH 2024 shows that has not changed
much, nor in SK, MB. Meanwhile DXMAP shows paths between OK and WA,
    nexus over WY, grrr.

Next day by 1538 UT June 23, FMDB is back in biz: of the 28 Canadians
on 89.5, the only CF- prefix is in Goose Bay. Is there a marginal
religious 89.5 around here? Yes, 23.5 kW KJCC Carnegie OK which I have
rarely logged; and three further translators in OKC, Elk City, and
Felt at far end of Panhandle. In KS, xltrs in Topeka, Parsons.

Until the Next, Best of DX and 73 de Glenn

GW and tropo DX to Enid OK, June 25-29, 2024

** OKLAHOMA.
Only 50 km/31 miles (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 105.1, June 25 at 2322, KOSB Perry is MONO, not shown as
such in WTFDA FMDB. ``Triple Play Sports`` also on AM 1020 & 1580. And
running a commercial for ``University of Maryland, Global Campus``, of
          all things, in OSU territory.

However, at 2030 check June 26, 105.1 is OFF, likely another victim of
last night`s windstorm / powerlines down. And at 2043, I notice that
its AM companion, 1020 KOKP is also off! Maybe we can hear KDKA again
tonight if not RVC Roswell. Third 3-play outlet, 1580 KOKB Blackwell
is still ON. I thought they operated out of Stillwater but NRC AM Log
shows Ponca City address for 1020 & 1580, the latter being close to
PC. Trying to check whether 105.1 and 1020 are at same site, but FCC
AM Query can`t find KOKP! As if it have been deleted. LMS can, but not
the page with coordinates. All three are licensed until 2029y.

Since the WTFDA FM DB editors apparently don`t pay attention to my
reports, I have notified them directly about this mono and others
confirmed this year by monitoring: in OK: KIEL 89.3, KFXI 92.1, KOSU
          91.7 =50/50; KS: KCVW 94.3; TX: KTCK 96.7; Mexico: XHMYL 92.1. And
just now at 2030 June 26, I notice two more monos: KHEV 90.3, Fairview
OK; and 100.9, K265FL, Enid, talkradio translator tail wagging the dog
of 960 KGWA. KQCV 95.1 Shawnee is another Bott station, likely to be
mono too? Yes! at 2308 fadeups vs KICT Wichita which is $tereo, the
100/100 kW KQCV signal is definitely mono.

(I urge everyone to look out for local/ish FM signals in mono - as
per icon on receiver, not just your ears. Much mono-sounding audio can
          be part of $tereo transmissions. And inform the WTFDA FM DB}

95.3, the KOKC translator in OKC, K237GE, is in $tereo, talk station
might as well be mono for slightly more effective coverage. Would you
believe that the WTFDA FMDB shows its antenna height as 0 meters
HAAT?? It must really be way up on some TV tower to reach as far as
Enid reliably with 250 watts. FCC FM Query also shows 0 m HAAT, but
658 m AMSL and 314 m AGL, with a link to Calculate HAAT: that
          ``results`` in 302 m -- that`s 990 feet. If our LP CP on 95.1 come on,
will put an end to it around here (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 1020 KOKP and 105.1 KOSB Perry, June 28 at 1458 UT, are
still off the air after windstorm, early UT June 26. Does website
          acknowledge this?
          http://tripleplaysportsradio.com/
NO! Header describes group this way: ``105.1 & 93.1 Stillwater, 93.3
          Ponca City, 1020 Perry, 1580 Blackwell`` - I`ve never heard the 93.1
translator, unless that was the sporadic dead-airer; nor 93.3 blocked
by OKC station; there is a link to X, but ``nothing to see here yet``.
Abottom home page, interesting animated weather map of wind predixions

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. After a day of mostly <88 MHz MUFs June 26,
late evening sporadic FM DX had erupted UT June 27 when I check DXMAPs
after 0230. So hasten to the car. See also CANADA for one definite
log. Frequency after frequency turn out to be ``spoilers`` from KS,
OK, or TX with enhanced conditions anear rather than Es from afar!

89.5 at 0246, jazz in $tereo, not Tulsa or Kansas per skeds; mixing
with gospel huxter, normally `open` frequency. 0300 ID for KJCC
Carnegie OK, amid CCI. At 0315 promos for FRC. 0332 about evangelism
in Nicaragua; anti-mainstream-media, Family Research Council plugs,
          ``The Washington Stand``, frc.org; 0337 program now is ``Washington
Watch``. A huge affiliate list is here for W.W.:
          https://www.tonyperkins.com/stations
Far Christian right show, via several networks, AFR, Bott, CSN, etc.
Searching on 89.5 leads to 15 stations including KJCC from CSN at this
          hour.

96.5 at 0249, Tulsa Mix 96.5 has CCI, with ad for phone 225-9111 Steve
Johnson. Search on that leads only to Barrie, Ontario, landscaping
business; but no viable radio hits there.

          101.3 at 0252, ``Today`s best country`` and tasteofcountry.com - KFDI
Wichita KS and KLAW Lawton OK, both fringers, are struggling for
primacy, and both country, but not those exact slogans in FMDB - maybe
program names rather than stations`. Website has plenty of stuff
including podcasts, but nothing about radio affiliates.

101.5 at 0254, Mexmx in $, strong but fades out just in time for any
0300 ID! Hope it`s Es, but surely not Canada. Could be fringer in KS,
100/100 kW KSMM Liberal. As I noted before, our nearby religious SS in
Okeene OK, is absent. 0323 f/in again Mexmx.

          102.5 at 0305 in $ mentions ``Christian faith``, normally vacant
channel here; maybe 100/100 kW KKCV, BOTT in Rozel KS, which is WSW of
Great Bend on the way to Garden City. Nothing in OK. 241 km / 150 stmi

103.9 at 0304 SRN news, KHYM ID. Is 100/100 kW Copeland KS, also
          relays invading OK.

          94.1 at 0308, ``94.1 KXOJ`` ID, gospel mx - Glenpool OK (Tulsa). 0327,
program `Live Wire Nights`, CCI, David Jeremiah with San Diego
          address, ``Turning Point``. Website
https://www.davidjeremiah.org/radio has neat feature, ``stations near
you``, six in KS and OK including two in Enid - but not on 94.1.
Download and consult *huge* station list by country, state and city:
          https://d2urhn0mmik6is.cloudfront.ne.../radio_log.pdf

Incredibly the call for every CSN affiliate is KAWZ-FM, its orginator
in Idaho, not local calls! including what should be KJCC 89.5 Carnegie
OK. There are only? 10 hits on 94.1, including in OK, only ``KQCV-FM``
OKC, which is a translator, in addition to 95.1 KQCV-FM Shawnee. Yet
what I am hearing is either KXOJ, or 9.8/9.8 kW KTHM 94.1 Waynoka
          ``The House`` relayer of 89.7.

96.7 at 0309, DFW ad, as KTCK again penetrates way up here from Flower
          Mound TX. 381 / 236

101.7 at 0322, mention ``Royal Fund Management``, smax of Canadian?
and fade-out. No, HQ in The Villages, Florida, but could do business
          anywhere.

Another possible Es opening, June 27 at 2034, nets only nearbies:

          92.1 at 2034, ``The Beat`` - that`s 27/27 kW KTBT Broken Arrow
(Tulsa). More dominant normally is KFXI 100/100 kW Marlow mono.

          92.3 at 2036, L&C sportstalk, ``Throwback``, Wichita mentioned. So
KKGQ Newton KS, 100/100 kW. Woodward OK talk station normally
          dominates.

97.1 at 2040, L&C sportstalk, normally nothing vs 96.9 local. Mentions
Oklahoma, ad for Sun & Sky. So 100/100 kW KYAL Muskogee (Tulsa) Sports
Animal (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR)

          ** U S A. Nearlogs while searching for Es FMDX June 29:

          96.7 at 1553, weak, leapforjoy.com - which leads to a totally
different dating site; Verizon ad; 1559 mentions Texas, so only KTCK
          again.

94.5 at 1555, DFW mentioned, Magic 94.5, or rather:

don`t already know! Same at 1652. Too strong for KS fringer? But also
too steady for Es. Finally full ID at 1658 as KKDT, Burdett KS. 248 km

more of same at 1703; and 1708 maybe also with ``L-G``? And at 1722
f/in again. That`s the slogan of WOEX Orlando, which I have definitely
heard several times along with other FL stations. BUT:

Searching slogan and 96.5 in WTFDA FMDB gets WOEX and one other hit:
            K243BJ, relaying KRXO 107.7 HD{3} OKC, 250-watt translator! Judging
from lack of any other Es, and boosted OKC signals elsewhere, afraid
that`s what I`m getting, not heard before. 96.5 has been with CCI from

music, paragon.com = KECO Elk City OK; the two fringe OKies.

97.3, July 7 at 1657 UT, outro for service from St. Joseph`s Catholic
Church, in Norman, good solid $ signal, so it`s KKNG-FM, only 1/1 kW,
244 m, Blanchard OK, a station of the OKC Catholix; with tropo boost,
            normally inaudible.

91.5, July 7 at 1647 UT, NO signal from KSNS, 0/96 kW, Medicine Lodge
KS, which is normally quite good just across the OK border, must be

            WOR)

            ** U S A. 91.5, July 8 at 2021 UT into caradio, KSNS Medicine Lodge KS
is back on with gospel music after missing yesterday (Glenn Hauser,
OK, WOR) as above under OKLAHOMA [and non]

** OKLAHOMA. July 11 before 0300 UT, search on caradio for Es DX
instead finds tropo boost from OKC of lowpower signals normally
            inaudible:

96.5, July 11 at 0258, ``Los éxitos de ayer están sólo aquí``, and
similar non-IDs in next few minutes. So K243BJ, HD# of KRXO 107.7.
            [WORLD OF RADIO 2251]

94.1, July 11 at 0300, Bott Radio promos; $tereo icon flashes on and
off but probably from CCI. K231BH of KQCV 95.1 - WTFDA DB shows base
station also on 94.1, wrong. 95.1 hardly needs a LP relay so close.

            92.9, July 11 at 0304, ``The Edge``, i.e. K225BN, of KOMA-HD2 on 92.5.
Maybe slogan alludes to being at the edge of 92.5 bigsig.

97.3, July 11 at 0306, plug Santa Fe Family Life Center, then OKC RCC
references. Is 1.0 kW KKNG-FM Blanchard. Beware, ``Santa Fe`` mentions
do not necessarily lead to NM. Also Houston, and RCC stuff anywhere
            (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

            ** OKLAHOMA. 91.7, July 12 at 2018 UT, KOSU with `Oklahoma Music
Minute`, periodic filler during NPR breaks, in this case amid ATC; on
behalf of its alter-ego The Spy: I make a point of checking, and no,
they do not turn $tereo back on for that, staying in daytime mono,
resulting in ``flat`` music (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

              July 13-August 31, 2024::

** OKLAHOMA. 102.3, July 22 at 2018 UT, routine bandscan on caradio
              during `dead` conditions hits something here unusual, not // 740 KRMG;
with national ads, weather ``from Classic Communications, Q-102`` i.e.
KWDQ Woodward. Tho 100/100 kW, less heard than other fullpowers there.
Or rather Q102 per WTFDA FMDB, no hyphen and could also be Q102.3. If
there were a hyphen, it could only be WVRQ-FM, Viroqua WI, but I bet
they don`t pronounce the hyphen (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA. 89.3, July 26 at 1550 UT, routine bandscan on caradio
finds one anomaly: no signal from KIEL Loyal, the undermodulated
monophonic R. 74 Internationale part of the 3ABN TV network whose
audio is also on one of their K17JN-D Enid subchannels, erroneously
self-IDed as K17JI-D. O, at 1934 recheck, KIEL is back on (Glenn
              Hauser, Enid WOR)

** MEXICO. DXMAP shows MUF 98 MHz eastward, so out to the car for an
FM DX tunearound, July 30 at 1710 UT: immediately hear Spanish on
              88.1, then ``920 AM ... kalientí ... Celaya ... la que manda`` -- so
it is this from the south instead:

              XHRE-FM relays:AM 920 88.1 CELAYA GTO MEX 10.0 kW ERP -73.0 m BELOW
average terrain 20-23-20 100-47-49 Spanish REGIONAL MEXICAN RADIO LOBO
per WTFDA FM Database. 1788 km = 1111 statute miles.

So the sporadic-E season is not quite over. Scanning entire band, only
other sign of Es DX is: 94.1, at 1712 just a bit of Spanish. There are
no Celayans or even Guanajuatans on 94.1; closest to there by G.C.
would maybe be in Hidalgo, CDMX. On 94.1 and many other frequencies,
constant battle among OK and KS fringe signals on a turbulent
100-degree day. Quit at 1737 for lunch; another try at 1834-1840 nets
nothing (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR)

              ** U S A. 93.5, July 31 at 1717 UT on caradio, ``this is Thunder
              Country`` and country music. Only my usual fringer, KKDT Burdett KS;
WTFDA db shows ``93.5 Thunder`` instead as slogan. Apparently a recent
change from ``My Country 93.5`` the last time I noticed it. Unclear
how Thunder is distinctive to Hays KS area; 46 other USA stations
slogan that word including some elsewhere in Kansas. Of course, I was
bandscanning for Es DX -- MUF way up east of here but paths not yet
reaching this far. Slogan heard again at 2305 during another fruitless
Es pursuit. This signal faded from strong to nothing in seconds vs
CCI, as if were ionospheric, but it`s the turbulent 100+degree
troposphere. Also here any weaker signals are subject to surges via
Vance airplane scatter constantly traversing us, and we suspect also
raining jet fuel exhaust exacerbating oily dust at ground level (Glenn
              Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 1270, Aug 26 at 0638 UT, VG Spanish music, loud
& clear, better than some 50/50 kW ``clears`` such as WOAI 1200.
Figured it must be KFLC Benbrook [The Metroplex] TX, U4 50/5 kW, but
now listed as TUDN sports -- maybe not in the nightmiddle? Night
pattern is E/W, no good for us, nor daypat major lobe east.

              Then non-ID as ``107.9 FM y 1270 AM`` so it`s really KRXO, Claremore
[Tulsa] OK, listed as SS:CHR, address in OKC, 5/1 kW direxional SW but
not totally nulled thisaway. Besides ownership, KRXO[AM] has no
relation to programming on the original KRXO[FM] 107.7 OKC, silly
sportstalk in English. WTFDA FMDB shows 107.9 is K300CY Broken Arrow
[Tulsa], 150 watts, CHR, Lang NOT as Spanish, yet slogan Ritmo 107.9.
Another tail wagging an AM dog. A confusing situation; why apply the
same calls to AM in Tulsa, and not // FM in OKC?

              But then I hear ``St. Joe`s classic rock, KY-102``, huh? That`s KYSJ,
St. Joseph MO, dog wagged by its tail, K273BF, 102.5 per NRC AM Log
and supposed to be only 36 watts at night! AOR format. Don`t think I
had ever heard it, U1 1000/36. Unless it changed to Spanish? Website
shows still English: https://www.ky102.net/ (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

** OKLAHOMA [and non]. 91.5, Aug 23 at 2006-2010 UT, strong dead air
in $tereo, i.e. KSNS `Keep Singing New Songs`, Medicine Lodge KS, just
across the border, and 96 kW ERP vertical only.

105.3, Aug 23 at least 2005-2010 UT, dead air in $tereo from normally
fringe KINB Kingfisher; o, it`s only 930/930 watts per WTFDA DB. There
are some stronger but further KS and OKs on same; during routine
bandscan on caradio with absolutely no DX (Glenn Hauser, Enid, WOR)

              ** U S A. 91.5, Aug 28 at 2216 UT, dead air in $tereo from semi-local
KSNS, Medicine Lodge KS. Also sometime on Aug 27 but neglected to log.
DA was logged on Aug 23. Haven`t checked enough to know whether it`s
been totally dead since then or sporadic (Glenn Hauser, OK, WOR)

              ** U S A. 91.5 FM, Aug 30 circa 1915 UT on caradio, KSNS Medicine
Lodge KS is *still* broadcasting dead air in $tereo, AND Aug 31 at
1900. Slogan changed from ``Keep Singing New Songs`` to ``Keeping
Silent, No Sounds`` They should put that on their RDS. I`m
investigating this further. Would you believe that radio-locator.com
says this ``Christian Contemporary`` in KS is owned by FLORIDA PUBLIC
RADIO, address in Titusville, yet with a (620) KS AC phone?!

And website https://www.krejksns.org -- Indeed they are sibling to
KREJ 101.7 ``Keep Ready Expecting Jesus``. Maybe transitioning to FPR
ownership, however unlikely? This on website may explain why it`s
deadairing for more than a week:

``Dear faithful KREJ/KSNS listeners and support partners, I’m Carol
Henry, now the president and manager of the network of eight stations
my husband Randy was used of God to build. It’s with a heavy heart
still that my sons and I have taken up this mantle that Randy left to
us when he entered heaven on April 12th, 2024. Keeping all the
stations on the air has put a tremendous responsibility on my
shoulders. And without Randy and Mike Henry’s help here in Kansas, I
feel we must find new owners to continue this ministry that we know
has blessed many lives for 34 years...``

And look at this when you click on KSNS Schedule: ``KSNS Program
Schedule Last updated August 18, 2024. Programs in bold are locally
produced. We have switched the content on KREJ and KSNS. Now you hear
KREJ programming on 91.5 FM and contemporary Christian music on 101.7
              FM.``

The KREJ schedule is much more detailed,
              https://www.krejksns.org/krejschedule.php
but note the limited hours for live streaming, much less than onair
times, strange, due to costs??: ``KREJ Program Schedule Last updated
July 1, 2024. Programs in bold are locally produced. Often short
programs are aired multiple times but may only be listed once.
Streaming is available Monday - Friday 5 AM - 6 PM and Saturday and
Sunday 5 AM - Noon. Click on “Listen Live” in the menu``

KREJ is 50 kW on 101.7 also in Medicine Lodge. Seems I last logged it
in 2021 & 2022 as QRMing Es DX - I would not call it ``semi-local``
now, normally unheard so maybe really has been off, not even dead air,
or QRP? I wonder what the other six stations were. They are also on
disgraced FB but nothing beyond quoted above (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK,
              WOR)

              ** U S A. 100.3, Aug 31 at 1801 UT, routine caradio bandscan hits here
an ad for ISU Bookstore, and mentions of IOWA! DXMAP shows no Es, and
too close anyway; nor APRS map tropo, altho there is some from Iowa
into Kansas, supposedly not extending to Enid. Some more local? ads
follow, but soon fadeout. This is the only Iowan on 100.3 per WTFDA
              FMDB:
              ``KDRB 100.3 DES MOINES 100.0 kW 547.0 m 41-49-48 93-36-54 HD 19A7
100.3 The BUS title & Artist No Program Type or Undefined ADULT HITS
              100.3 THE BUS 51332``

Perhaps a propagational fluke, aided by airplane scatter; unseemed
meteor scatter. It`s hard to imagine ISUBS advertising outside Iowa or
even further from Ames than DM. Unless from a SBG net? First ISU FB
game of season is today but radio coverage on KCHA 95.9 at least does
not start until 1930 UT, against North Dakota in Ames (Glenn Hauser,
              OK, WOR)

              ** U S A. 100.3, caradio still tuned where I got Iowa earlier today,
at first nothing but as I move the car slightly I begin to hear some
station, Aug 31 at 2332 UT, soon non-ID as ``100.3 Jack FM``. Unless
it`s a 200-watt translator in AZ, WTFDA FMDB shows this is: ``KJKK 100.3
              DALLAS TX 97.0 kW 574.2 m 32-35-02 96-57-48 HD 28D2 JACK~ FM - Song/
Title Song/Artist Adult Hits 100.3 JACK FM 63779`` - another bit of
extended groundwave in the 400+ km range. Last heard on May 6, 2023,
q.v. (Glenn Hauser, Enid OK, WOR)
