    RadioLand app.

I hope this is the proper forum.

I just found this on Android apps.

    Take care.

This app was created and developed by WTFDA member Nick Langan. A few of us were allowed to preview the app and recommend changes before it was publicly announced. Nick did a great job with it. Some data from the WTFDA FM Database was used in this app.

WOW!!!! This is fantastic. I've been playing with this app on one of my offline Samsung phones all weekend. I fully understand the basic concept but it would be cool to actually receive audio from the station you picked.

You gotta understand that it's a database, not a radio tuner :-)
And it's too bad that Samsung won't unlock the app so we can use our phones like FM tuners. My last LG phone had it unlocked and useable, but no, not Samsung.

          Hi Mike,

Do you know if Nick plans to develop a version for IOS?

I thought there was one for both IOS and Android. (?)

There is a version of RadioLand for iOS. Here’s the link:

I wonder if Halmonsta (above) was talking about streaming various stations through the RadioLand app. I'm thinking that with Alexa, I simply say play WXXX and Alexa will find it (be it on itunes, or iHeart, etc) and stream it if available somewhere. I would think something like this could be incorporated into RadioLand, but that would be a whole new level and is not what RadioLand was intended for., But it would be nice! Helpful in identifying unID's.

Actually I was hoping it had the capability of linking with an existing FM chip in a smartphone like my ZTX. I have another offline Samsung phone that I loaded as many FM radio apps as possible just for giggles and grins. Until I finish setting up my FM radio stuff I am thinking of setting up some AM radio stuff. Until then I listen to AM radio on some of the internet SDR sites.

While it's not the same as this app, the website https://radio.garden has a globe where you can click in an area and listen to local streaming stations (terrestrial and online-only) around the area. It's pretty nifty.
