The Commission recently held a filing window for new LPFM stations, and the resulting applications are now in LMS.
While peering at the Wisconsin applications I noticed UWM (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee) had filed for a LPFM on 90.1; the application was dismissed by the FCC.
Reading the reasons, it said the station's proposed site at 42-04-38.8N/87-53-08.3W was too close to co-channel "WMBH-FM" (they meant WMBI) Chicago at 19km vs. required 112km; and too close to WMTH 90.5 Park Ridge, Illinois at 5km vs. required 6km.
A quick check of the map shows UWM is far more than 19 kilometers from anywhere in Illinois.
But if you plot the coordinates of the proposed site, it's in a park in the Chicago suburb of Mt. Prospect.
It should be 43-04-38.8N/87-53-08.3W. Which plots to the roof of Cunningham Hall on the UWM campus.
Oops.
