Around mid-day on June 11, 2012 I was listening to the tail end of a Sporadic E (Es) opening on the FM dial.
KIZZ-93.7 FM (Z-94) from Minot, North Dakota had just faded out and then, about a minute later station CKUA from Calgary, Alberta rose up briefly from the static.
This is a "double-hop" Es reception of CKUA at 1849 miles. Have a listen to the attached mp3 file:

00:20 "....the 2012 Global Petroleum Show in Calgary....."
00:23 "....that's been an update from the CKUA newsroom, I'm Matt Nodge."
00:32 "....CKUA radio network across Alberta and around the world on the internet..."
Equipment used was a Carver TX-11 receiver and a standard Radio Shack TV/FM directional outdoor antenna.
I contacted the station by email and sent them the mp3 recording. They sent back a QSL card to verify my reception. See smaller pics within the larger map pic.
