Here are some unIDs from a couple of intense auroras — one in May, another in August. Perhaps the strongest I’ve had in more than a decade from Burnt River ON. Times are EDT.
These MP3 audio show pretty clearly what Au sounds like. Signals can range from impossibly muffled to almost as clear as weak to moderate-strength tropo. It sounds much like people talking or playing music in an adjacent room or apartment. The voices or songs seem loud enough, but the audio is muffled and it can be challenging to make out what’s being said.
93.9 - 1952 May 10 — ID sounds like “93-9 The Fox” at 0:09. This would suggest WWGM Selmer TN, But I’m wondering if I’m hearing the slogan correctly. Any second opinions?
97.1 - 2105 May 10 — ID sounds like “WLNT 97.1 FM” at 0:06, but nothing matches.
94.5 - 2305 May 10 - ID sounds like “Q-94” at 0:14, and I’m suspecting WKLQ Holland MI. Anyone hear the same, or differently?
92.9 - 0310 May 11 - ID sounds like “Mix 92-9” at 0:16, and I’m suspecting WJXA Nashville TN rather than KYYY Bismarck ND.
92.9 - 0427 and 0435 May 11 - 0427 has end of Harry Styles song and possible Q or U 92-9 slogan at 0:23 and 0435 has same slogan at 0:07. I think it's either Q-92-9 or U-92-9”.
96.9 - 0440 & 0815 - The all-new 96-9 the Z (or 96-9 the Beat?) at 0:24 on the 0440 clip and at 0:12 on the 0815 clip. As much as it sounds like the Beat, I’m suspecting "The Z" and KZBK Brookfield MO, which is more to the north and thus making it geographically more likely. The 0815 clip also has ads which I'm not making out.
107.9 - 0654 Aug 12 - Ad at the start of the clip for a Nissan dealer offering leases, then at 0:14 it goes into an ID that ends as “107 the ???”.
105.9 - 0712 Aug 12 - Strong semi-local CICX Orillia ON nulled. Ad mentions a possible Open Hills and 532-9674. With CICX 30-40 miles away, I maneuvered the rotatable dipole with this one, and scored a very brief full null. Orillia is the McDonalds ard at the very start, but the ad with phone number is weaker and comes right afterwards. The country reference at the end of the clip is also Orillia. It's the weaker, muffled station I'm chasing.
Any listens and opinions are appreciated, with thanks,
Saul / Burnt River ON
