    Meteor Scatter Logs in Ohio

In the past couple months, I've tried using the FM Stellar Labs yagi mounted in my backyard on a tripod aiming straight up at the sky, and it's yielded some good results for meteor scatter. It has helped lower my noise floor significantly despite being 1.6 miles and 2.0 miles from the nearby FM broadcast towers here in Akron. I also believe that aiming the antenna straight up has helped capture more meteor scatter bursts. With the technology now, using SDR Console and the FM autologger, it helps make meteor scatter easier than ever. I simply just park the SDR on about 10 open frequencies and hope that RDS decodes on any of them while away. Here is a list of the meteor scatter logs I've received in the past couple months of doing this (September & October)...

95.7 KWWR Mexico, MO 570 miles
99.9 WEZN Bridgeport, CT 438 miles
100.3 WNSL Laurel, MS 779 miles
101.5 WRAL Raleigh, NC 407 miles
101.5 WSOL Yulee, FL 707 miles
101.9 KMVX Monroe, LA 842 miles
102.7 WJEQ Macomb, IL 474 miles
103.5 WEZL Charleston, SC 576 miles
106.3 WQBZ Fort Valley, GA 584 miles
106.3 KLXH Thibodaux, LA 938 miles
107.5 WBYN Boyertown, PA 316 miles

    Extremely interesting report.

Those MS FM logs are very impressive.

The straight-up antenna appears to be a good idea.

When you say pointing the antenna straight up... What exactly do you mean?! Yagi antennas are horizontal designed... Aren't they?!

        Trying to earn something here.

I'm literally pointing the antenna up at the sky. It doesn't seem to matter which direction it's rotated; it works any way. So all the horizontal elements are parallel to the ground.
