    FrankenFM query

So what are the modulation levels like on these things? (Edit: apologies I think I posted in the wrong sub forum but I can’t see how to delete posts )
did they/do they use FM broadcast deviation levels or quieter (I assume)NTSC TV sound levels?
Thanks in advance for indulging my obsession

Well... All the US ones died finally. I had one in my neck of the woods ( Panama City FL) up until 2021.

Also... If you ever wanna delete... Just click edit and there is a delete post option.

    And welcome to the forum.

Interesting query Tim. Contrary to what someone said above, the FrankenFM stations did NOT all die. There are 13 of them actively broadcasting an analog side band, along with the primary ATSC 3 (digital) assignment. At the end of summer the FCC finalized a ruling that would not allow any other broadcaster to file application or petition for a FrankenFM assignment. During the summer each year, I go on 87.75 MHz watch for the FrankenFM stations and record them IF I can DX them. So far, the West Coast stations have proved to be the most elusive.

IF you care to hear what I have heard, I can post mp3 clips to your topic thread.

There was a Franken FM WVOA-LP in Syracuse, NY for years until the analog LPTV shutdown in 2021. The audio modulation was similar to that of FM radio, I've picked up actual analog TV 6 stations from Canada before and you had to crank the volume to hear them well on an FM radio. WVOA also ran stereo that worked on FM radios, I could only get mono audio from my TV on this station. Attached is a TOH ID from them in 2017.
