May 6 and May 7 FM Es in Kingsport

The first receptions of the 2025 Es season occurred here in Kingsport on May 6 and 7. It was a run-of-the-mill, early opening to Texas. Summary as follows:

May 6: I noticed the maps showed possible activity in the evening so I left a few recorders going all night along with the autologgers. Although I haven't reviewed the recordings yet, one of the autologgers captured KRGI-96.5, KLCV-88.5, and KROA-95.7 (Nebraska, 803-906 miles) within a 10 minute or so span from around 10:52pm EDT to 11:01pm EDT.

May 7: Activity on the maps all day. FM Es were around from about11:45am EDT to about 12:20pm EDT, all from Texas. (KEOM-88.5, KNCT-91.3, KUT-90.5, KLZT-107.1, KGKV-88.1, KONO-101.1) At 6:46pm while out to eat, one of the autologgers got KMZZ-98.3 from Kingsville, TX area.

On a side note, besides the autologgers running almost 24/7, I am now, for the first time, running several recorders overnight in the event we have one or more surprise "after midnight" openings. Overnight Es has been brought up in discussion recently and it made me wonder how much I might have missed not recording overnights during peak Es season.
