June 1st Florida DX... lots of HD's.

The last real Es opening here in Poughkeepsie, NY was June 1 (today is June 9), which brought in a surprising number of Florida FM's with HD-Locks... literally sounding like locals. Speaking of which, two of these HD's were over local Class B's. Here are some clips....

1. WLRN-HD 91.3 Miami o/ local WVKR-91.3. At the beginning of the clip I've included WVKR just before WLRN took over. 91.3 WLRN-HD o-WVKR.mp3

2. WRBQ-HD 104.7 (Q-105) Tampa o/local WSPK 104.7 (K-104). This clip begins with a bit of WSPK, and their are a couple of times in clip WSPK comes through when the HD local is lost. 104.7 WRBQ-HD o-WSPK.mp3

3. WTZB-HD 105.9 (Z-105) Englewood. WTZB lost the lock a couple times but still dominated 105.9. 105.9 WTZB-HD.mp3

4. WSRZ-HD 107.9 Coral Cove. Top of Band! No ID in this one, This cut starts with WSRZ buried under semi-locals until HD-Lock kicks in. 107.9 WSRZ-HD.mp3

5. WLLD-HD 94.5 Lakeland. No ID on this one. RDS display showed WLLD and "The Bay's Party Station". 94.5 WLLD-HD_1.mp3

6. WKZM-104.3. This is not HD, but had a killer signal. This cut starts with WAXQ-104.3 in nearby NYC, and then WKZM pops in when I turn the antenna a bit,. 104.3 WKZM.mp3

Both WRBQ-104.7 and WLLD-94.5 are new logs.

Nice catches. Almost 50 years ago I listened to Q-105 as a teen when we visited a family friend in Tampa. Haven't gotten Tampa via Es, but did once in the 80s during a nice late night tropo opening.
